Nick’s on his own at Goodwood though, so he just needs to post a time to take the win I think?

Am I, or is Corky coming along? I know the carters aren’t out to play.

If the above is the case and Jim and Nick manage 25 points at those events then my abacus says

NK 174.98
JK edit 174.08
SC 172.45
BC 171.63

2019 CM Results

“CM Comp Sec” wrote:Good Evening Speed Lovers,

The sun shone at Wiscombe Park Saturday and on days like that there is no better place to hillclimb. Unusually I’m able to use the terms ‘Wiscombe Park’ and ‘grippy track’ in the same sentence. Conditions were absolutely perfect and a great time was had by all. Steve Hill will be particularly pleased with his red 25 on one of his favourite tracks and Jamie Fisher-Pearson did another of his Wiscombe giant-killing performances and landed second place. An epic drive. As I continue to regain confidence in the yellow resin rocket, I was rewarded with third place. It’s been a while! I would like to thank Marion for performing on-the-day timing duties, allowing me to concentrate on my driving.

The new points and leaderboard is attached and there is no change in the top three, but beneath this things are hotting up. We are just 4 days away from another of our big weekends and with just 4 rounds left, the championship is still wide open. I think our final hillclimbing weekend at Shelsley is going to see some ultra-competitive driving, as folks try to cement their position near the top of the leaderboard. After this it’s sprint city.

We have our AGM on Saturday evening at Shelsley Walsh. If you are there, please try to attend. It’s your club and it’s your opportunity to not only hear what we are about and where we are going, but also to raise any points you wish to be discussed. If you have anything you wish to raise, please email me (comps@cmscc.uk.uk) and copy Steve Cox in (chair@cmscc.co.uk) with your question or point you would like discussed. The meeting will start when competition on Saturday has finished and we’ve had a chance to pack up and cool down. It will be in the meeting room opposite the restaurant in the Shelsley Walsh courtyard.

See you there. Safe journey everyone.

2019 CM Results

“CM Comp Sec” wrote:Good Afternoon All,

The Classic Marques Championship continued to serve up a scintillating mix of competitive motorsport along weather and second hand excuses, as we competed for two days at the world famous Shelsley Walsh hill climb. Famous not only for historic feats of hill climbing bravery over the 114 years it has been in existence, but also for its quirky organisation (read ‘occasional paddock chaos’). For all that, I love the place and I know many other CMSCC drivers do too.

It was a weekend of two halves. Saturday’s sunny, warm weather meant the grip was good and the cars with power-a-plenty could maximise their advantage on this power hill of power hills. Sunday was a very different story on a track that never dried, but was less wet at some times than others. Good news if you drove a Morgan in the later running Morgan Cars class. For me it was the first time in the 2019 season I have had to resort to wets, so I can’t complain really – although I did – to anyone who’d listen (and those that wouldn’t).

On Saturday I snatched the red 25, with Matt Eady chasing hard in 2nd place and Steve Small, determined to get into the 34 second bracket in 3rd.
Sunday saw Steve Hill’s fleet-footed Lotus take a well-deserved red 25, with Simon Baines maximising the later running Morgan class advantage in 2nd and a brilliant drive from Rob Pallett (or as the commentator kept saying, Rob Pallai) to take 3rd.

Thanks to Marion for efficient timekeeping duties at Shelsley both days.

The championship top three now looks like this:

1st - Steve Lyle
2nd – Howard Barnard
3rd – Roger Fish

I’m sending the Blyton Park Oily Rag out again with this email, as several of you at Shelsley said you’d not received it. It was definitely sent, so not sure what’s happened.

So it’s now two rounds to go – Goodwood and Castle Combe. Steve will be timekeeping at Goodwood (maybe the whiteboard will make a return!) and I’ll see you for the final round at Combe.

Cheers

Just spotted this - Messers Cork and King Snr split by 0.33 points  but how does it look in SSSC?

Pretty sure Jim gets ahead of me on SSSC. I'll do the SS later.

All very close in CM. Well done Nick, a deserved victory considering the opposition within CM.

As much as I would love to, I just can't make the journey work. It'd be a late Friday evening 240 mile run in traffic :( . If the event was on the Sunday, It'd be a lot easier to get there.

That’s a shame Steve, but that is a long haul! I know what you mean about trying to get to events on Friday night; makes the logistics much harder. You doing Combe?
