MK2 Sabre Breaking for parts

Post by reliant-reviver » Wed Aug 14, 2019 2:10 pm

Landed myself in deep water with Mrs RR by taking delivery of a part burnt out Sabre MK2 today.

Need to break it up and move on as much of it as I can ASAP.

Only thing I really want is the chassis for mock up.

Most things available although there's no engine / gearbox and nothing forward of the A pillars.

Few parts and prices:
Doors (damaged) £10 each
Side skirts (damaged) £20 pair
Rear bumper £100
Entire rear section of bodywork - offers?

Original factory fit hardtop, no sunroof. Has a large split / tear running from NS door corner edge, but easily repairable. £100

Performance and protection roll hoop, which was a special order (by our very own Corky) with harness bar. Complete and undamaged but would now benefit from a clean up / paint. £120

2 x original Melber 15x7 ET25 alloy wheels, in good condition £40 ea.

Loads of other bits not listed, feel free to ask.

Potentially can deliver some bits to Curborough although cutting it fine!

Yes although it will need restoration. Fire damage has affected some of the interior (mainly limited to dash components) and then weathering from time spent out in the open hasn't helped either. Let me double check it and come back to you.

Are Sabre boot struts the same as an SS1?

EDIT: Thanks Jimmy, I would be interested in those if they're usable. Can you PM me if so? :)

If the boot seal is ok and will be long enough for a ss1 I will take it as mine doesn’t have one.

Is the exhaust same as ss1? I might be interested in the bent section over the rear suspension/ drive shaft. If will fit ss1 and in reasonable condition etc

What are the seats like? Any idea if they would fit in a coupe?

Boot seal different but I can dig you out an SS1 one.
Exhaust is a bit of an oddity. It's a powerflow custom built one from cat back and has had the fart can chopped off and replaced with a bigger silencer since I first owned the car.

Seats need to be cleaned up and evaluated. I was expecting them to be ruined but I think they may be saveable. I may however be keeping them for my own car.

Armrest / centre cubby came up nicely enough actually. No damage to it, though it might have been charred around the gear stick hole (heat / flames clearly made it through the tunnel and toasted the gaitor!)
Will need sanding back and re-painting and the lid either recovering or gluing back down.
Would like £30 for it.

Hi Phil. I would be interested in the roll bar if you can wait for collection. Or wrap and post. Also any steering colum bushes left?
Thanks in advance. Craig.

no wonder you are getting grief, only half a car!!!
AND you have noticed that part of the chassis is missing for your 'mock-up' ?? ? ?

but does nicely show the steel framing around the screen/A pillar

Roll bar is sold several times over I think. Have agreed to swap it for a standard one with an acquaintance, but should he change his mind I shall go back through the order of people to offer it.

Still have column bushes available,

The bottom plates of the steelwork have rotted out (before or after it got BBQ's 2 years ago i don't know!) so the screen pillars are waggling about!

Intend to rejoin the front of the chassis for my needs. Will be taking a jig off another one first to get it all perfick.
