E5 E7 E10

Post by scimitargtc » Fri Jun 14, 2019 5:44 pm

Having read this weeks auto express article on pump labels what am I missing? If normal E5 unleaded has 5% ethanol and E10 has 10% and super duper unleaded doesn’t have to have any why should we worry about garages being made to keep a supply of E5 when we can simply use super, given average annual mileage I’m assuming most owners do is relatively low the annual fuel costs aren’t going to be mega. As I say I know I’m making some assumptions here...

That will be because there are lots of non classic cars that are not able to use E7 or E10 I believe and there are several people that I know only have non E fuel compatable cars as daily drivers and I hope most use an ethanol effect limiting additive such as Ethomix by Frost or Millers excellent products

I thought all fuel now had to be E5 minimum?

I’m guessing that this is the auto express article?

Appears to just say they’re fitting labels to the pumps? It says super unleaded fuel isn’t included in requirement to be E5 minimum, it doesn’t say that it isn’t (shell have confirmed that v-power is E5).
