Early days, but sounds like a 6 pack and a tent
6 pack Nick, have you been keeping up with Joe Wicks during lockdown?

MSUK COVID-19 UPDATE

Post by scimjim » Wed Jul 08, 2020 8:09 pm

Motorsport UK Member Newsletter
Last Saturday was an historic moment for motorsport in the UK, resuming after an unprecedented suspension, brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

I would like to thank everyone who was involved in all of the events last weekend, ranging from circuit racing to autotests, cross country and karting. Putting on a motorsport event is always time consuming, and often somewhat thankless for the volunteers and officials, who do so for the love of the sport. But last weekend’s events required a whole new level of commitment and innovation, to deliver safe and successful competitions, compliant to the new world of social distancing and secure venues.

It is great to be able to report that all of the events were delivered successfully. Across the country, our Covid-19 officers have delivered their reports, and all have commended the way in which clubs have implemented the Motorsport UK guidance for the resumption of the sport. As we predicted, there have been learnings as we have put them into practice, and this will result in further fine-tuning of the guidelines. But the key point is that all the hard work that the community had undertaken in preparing for the return has paid off. In particular, one overriding theme was the ease of implementation of the guidelines, with the right planning and communication. Thank you to everyone involved.

Now competitions have restarted we can look forward to a swift ramping up of more and more events over the coming weeks. In fact, we don’t even have to wait for next weekend, as Loughborough Car Club ran a grass-based auto-test last night. So there is plenty of grass roots action across the country. At the other end of the scale, in the next month we will host two rounds of the F1 world championship and see the resumption of the BTCC. And we are pleased to say that the finishing touches are being put to the resumption of rallying in the UK, and further information will be published shortly.

The details of the updates to the guidance are all on our website, but in summary the key areas are:

Competitor Guidance – Generic guidance to be used for all competitors is now available and should be carefully followed

Signing-on Declaration Forms – These forms have been updated to include provision for team personnel attending an event with a competitor, all of whom need to be accounted for

Face Masks / Coverings - We strongly recommend the use of a face covering (e.g. mask or balaclava) when inside venue/organiser buildings or if you are unable to maintain government social distancing guidance

Judicial Guidance – Updated guidance is now available

COVID-19 Posters – Guidance posters for use at Motorsport UK events are available to download from the website

Q & A – This is regularly updated and the following topics are covered this week:

Face masks
Spectators
Sprint & Hill Climb Starts
Rescue Units & Medical Requirement Clarification
ARDS & BARS Instruction Resumption
Each week we will update our community on the feedback from our recent events (we have 27 events this coming weekend) and from this we will all learn as a community. Please do communicate with us and help us all to develop. Let’s build on this solid start and get motorsport back on track across the whole of the UK.

MSUK COVID-19 UPDATE

Post by scimjim » Fri Sep 11, 2020 6:15 pm

Under the revised protocols announced earlier this week by Government.........”organised sport can continue to operate, when there is clear evidence of a thorough plan and consistent execution. Motorsport qualifies on that count. However, there are changes that we now need to implement to allow us to continue safely and these are summarised below:

- there is now the requirement for all participants to wear a face mask in all areas of the venue at all times
- the removal of individual personal exemptions from wearing a face mask; these persons will no longer be allowed to attend Motorsport UK events
- enhanced powers for COVID-19 Officers, Clerks of the Course and Stewards to intervene and penalise any transgressions
- reducing the maximum number of marshals per post to 6.

The revised measures are effective from Monday 14 September and further details can be found in an updated version of our COVID-19 Q&A, available on the Restart section of our website.“
