How to post links

Post by scimjim » Sun May 03, 2020 7:16 pm

whatever system you use will have an address bar at the top. Some (like this on my iPad) will shorten the address and just show “scimitarweb.co.uk”

99E23372-40E2-4744-8286-514E4A3CBE6A.jpeg (180.89 KiB) Viewed 2435 times
But if you click on it, you will see the full address
98897406-3A57-4B68-B7A6-BB23F0B14A9D.jpeg
98897406-3A57-4B68-B7A6-BB23F0B14A9D.jpeg (183.77 KiB) Viewed 2435 times
Which you can copy and simply add to a post like this (note that the forum will truncate the address)

http://www.scimitarweb.co.uk/sgwrs/view ... hp?t=43017

—————————————-————————————-————————————-————————————-————————————-————————————-————————————-————————————-

If you want to make it look professional, you can create a hyperlink by putting it into a url command.

So type

Add the word you want to display (I’ll use “Here”)

Here

Then close the url command with (space added so you can see it)

Here

Quantum physics is simple compared to this, whats an url anyway.I would like to post? photos on another website but can't, or even on this one. Possibly when I master the art of text messaging all will become clear.

For pictures, just use the “Add Files” button.

You don’t strictly need to use the [ url ] code now - a URL is a web address; the bit right at the top of your browser window Some website (like eBay etc) have a “Share” function - and usually a Copy Link button then.

If you know the answer any question is easy, how do you get photo onto puter thingy ? I need to give my insurance co. photos of my car so I take photos, print and deliver by hand since they are local.
The terminology is beyond me, copy, cut, paste, drop,I need a dictionary or will have to stay in my cave.

What sort of computer do you use Pete (is it Microsoft Windows?) and what sort of phone do you use (apple/android/Nokia)?

Turboscim [ Pete ?] , us cave dwellers need to embrace the "machine ". I am told by my Daughter , " your skills are out of date Dad " to which I reply that I have a very particular set of skills , skills I have acquired over a very long career . She will then say some thing along the lines of " having a Liam Neeson day Dad". I am not going to let this " machine" beat me , it may take a bit of time but if I can manage to adjust all the links on my 5a gear change this link thing will be mastered as well . Before they know it Pete we will be leaking , sorry, linking all over the place . Regards Richard .

My computer is, I think using windows 8 but using keyboard, the main computer uses xp pro. my phone is an ancient nokia 3310 which makes excellent phone calls for £11 a month all in.It would be useful to embrace teckernology but I got lost somewhere. I need to put photo of wrecked cylinder on a website when a piston circlip came out and on a 2 stroke that''s not good Also I found a photo of my scim on the historic g p circuit at silverstone in front of tvr, 911 caterham, sierra cosworth. which I would like to post. the 917k 's and t33's were a bit too quick although the f40 went into the gravel trap trying too hard

Will life be better or worse this is the question ? The challenge at the moment is trying to buy a pink atom ignition unit online, who knows one day I may be able pay rssoc subs by direct debit. Maybe it's easier to install central heating in my cave.
