thank you. the coil packs on the 3.2 are integral per cylinder bank. Three in a row and joined up into one piece, that you push in to all three spark plug housings.
They are genuine oem (bosch), but that might be the problem as they are probably as old as the engine, 10 years plus.
The first instance of misfire was not during the few local drives i did initially but after the first long drive (towards the end of 180 miles) . I've done about 400 miles now and it start earlier and earlier into a journey.
The challenge is, I have 4 of them and they are sided, so i have two of each bank type but there is a design fault and they trap water and this gets into them. so whilst the aftermarket ones are cr*p. (phil has also verified this) getting hold of old decent ones is bit of a lottery.
plugs are brand new but ill pop them out when i can face going into the garage again.
it has rained so hard today , on top of the previous 8 weeks, The garage i rent is very very damp. the dehumidifier simply cant cope : all the tools , spares etc are covered in moisture . Water is dripping from the roof everywhere and the spares are rusting as, god knows how, water is collecting in all the plastic trays that they live in. I took out a spare essex sump from storage and it had 1cm of water and was rusting from the inside !!!! Still, as someone on tv said today, it is only water which is a fair point.
Is we sideways yet...
