One of our local cheap shops sold clear plastic table cloth (useful for when the grandkids want to paint etc); it came off a roll, so any length was available and is fairly thick. Of course the shops are shut now.

Good Evening everyone ,hope you are all ok . Could anyone advise me re a replacement for the lower sill chrome embellisher ,as along with a few other bits they have gone missing during the cars restoration and following lack of finishing / hibernation . Thanks Richard .

Richard do you mean the Stainless Steel ribbing strip that runs the full length of the lower edge of the car?
OR the sill inside the door opening?.
I have a pair of the Full Length SS ribbings.

Today was my first real attempt to move forward with the gear stick issue, centre con was out ,new stick from Mark , good weather , read all the relevant advice , coerced the wife ect ect . All going well but then fell at third hurdle , clips on selector lever to rods , [later type box ] pushed pulled stared ,pushed pulled repeat repeat ,no joy . Sit down and have a cigg ,it cannot be this difficult what am I doing wrong, look at relivant posts on Scim Web . All the chaps appear to sail thru this step .Push pull wiggle wiggle push bl**dy pull no joy . Walk away giving the wife a blasé look [she got a box of chocs ] . " I will give it some thought tonight dear " ,wait until she is watching Emmerdale then onto Scim Web ,come on chaps save my position as Alpha male at home ,what am I doing wrong Richard .

Have you read the “Don Kennedy” pages? http://www.scimitarweb.co.uk/~donkenned ... arLink.htm - might give you some pointers.

I presume you’re trying to take them off?

Lift and push - but you sometimes need to push them in the “wrong” direction first, to release the edge from the recess in the rod.

Maybe a pic will help?

Push in direction A to disengage lip marked U, then lift edge marked in B to allow clip to slide off.

Thankyou for your time and clear informative guidance . I do hope I can resolve this issue asap as I have not been able to drive the car since its delivery, by the nitwit that broke the gear stick . However , this dilemma has resulted in a "journey" that has introduced me to a number of very kind and helpful individuals who inhabit this site , I wont mention any names you know who you are . Durring the present situation we are all facing it does help . Regards Richard .
