ss1 rooster turbo as a sprint car

Hi I was thinking about trying my hand at sprinting, noticed the rooster turbo and wondered if anyone with greater knowledge / experience could offer advice on the following? Would this car be ok for road going as a starter / novice? What would be the min costs to get it on track. If I liked it / wa...

Re: bubbles in feed pipe from mechanical fuel pump

Hi I would second Peter, just replaced my clear reinforced hoses as they had gone rock hard and we're going brown ie brittle. (Ta Greeny) I could also see bubbles after stopping the engine but not when running and so didn't have a problem. Fit some correct hoses see posts on here. They are black and...

Re: What cars did you see today? (Non-Scimitar)

The mystery car seen on the London to Brighton Vintage run a few weeks ago. Last Sunday in fact. The LBVCR is an event to see all sorts of interesting cars. Classics help to fill the 'traffic jam' amongst the veterans all the way to Brighton. I used to 'cruise' the Sabre before I got involved in ma...

Re: Rough running

Hi when fan comes on it basically stays on during driving. The switch is working fine and comes on when gauge around 90, switches off when cooled, ie engine off for 15 min. I had made my mind up that the water pump would be next, is this basically down to wearing clearances that the pump flow rate m...

Re: 6a front suspension + steering tie bar

Hi All I have play in the steering tie bar ball joint, can see ball moving etc. I rang QRG and Walkers but they don't have tie bar kits anymore. G Walker have the plastic inserts part 8 below so have bought 2 and intend to strip the joint to check what the problem is / change the plastic block 8. In...

Hi Jim spot on, it is the steering rack knuckle joint. I take it you hold the cup and undo the back nut after removing the ball joint etc?

Re: 6a front suspension

Hi Folks Been investigating front wheel play with the car on axle stands holding the tyre at 12 and 6 o'clock no play can be felt. If holding the wheel at 9 and 3 o'clock there is a definite wheel movement. Found two studs loose so wrap the spline with PTFE tape and studs now ok, also tightened whee...

Re: 6a front suspension

Thanks Dave for the offer, I have a number of jobs to sort so 3 weeks might be about right, if I fancy using the car I will put the old ones back, have some sort of low rpm misfire to sort as well as adjust wheel bearing, new steering gaiters, oil change, 82 deg stat and coolant change, gearbox oil ...

Re: 6a front suspension

Cheers for the replies folks, New top wishbone bushes on the way plus a set of front Gaz fully adjustable shocks and 275lb springs. The only issue is the Gaz shocks are 3 weeks delivery, made to order! I will be getting some other jobs done and investigating my dodgy gearbox.

6a front suspension

Hi All Had a knocking noise from the front passenger wheel area when pulling away. Jacked up the car and slight play in the wheel bearing. Also the top wishbone bushes (poly yellow) were disintegrating but still fairly effective. These will be replaced, rang Graham Walkers but they don't supply the ...

Re: Rolling Road Day Saturday 15th March

Hi Josh Guess just after lunch for us.

Do you think we would get about 1/2h or more or will it be less, just checking as we need to do some carb adjustments whilst rear wheels are turning under load :D .

Cheers Ben
