System Crash - Wed 13 Sept 2017

I've detected abnormal activity in the early hours of Thursday morning as well but can't tell what effect it might have had on users. Please let me know if there were access problems between midnight and 09:30am. The problems show some signatures of Denial of Service attacks but I'm doubtful that we...

It looks like there are serious problems with the Smartfeed application serving the RSS feeds. I am going to have to disable it fully and research alternatives. Sorry, but no feeds until further notice. :(

Sideways Pictures

The issue of pictures posted from some phones being in the wrong orientation had passed me by because it appeared to be an issue with the phones rather than the forum. Whilst that is still true, the forum can be modified to compensate for it and I have now done that. Many thanks to Scimjim again for...

System Crash - Wed 13 Sept 2017

I apologise for the break in service this morning. The IP address of our server apparently became unavailable at around 06:30 for reasons as yet unknown. It should now be operating normally.

Not receiving PM notification?

At the top of the notifications pop-up there is a link to settings. That will take you to an area of the user control panel where you can choose how you want to receive notifications, both in the pop-up and by emails.

It seems a little flaky on this new version. Perhaps the developers don't give it a very high priority. Haven't been able to find a specific fixable problem but in my testing it seems about no more than 80% reliable. Regenerating the feed for a new link is a sensible thing to do but I still can't gu...

Forum Search

I've now finished this bit of work. The search field is now in the navigation bar, to the right hand end from the Board index link and breadcrumbs, rather than in the header. This enable me to develop the header without you losing the search facility.

Forum Search

I am having to do some work on the location of the forum search field as part of the development of a new header and menu. It seems to behave differently in development and live so you may see changes in position or it might even disappear for a while during my work to sort it out. Just so you know ...

I'm not asking for everything bigger, just the little red pip.
Roger, if you mean the little red page icon before the topic name then its not really a problem because the big round scimitar icon takes you the same place.

Possible Style Improvements

Thanks for the comments. I thought I'd leave it a while before looking. I'll take all comments into consideration before putting a proposal together. I have to admit I find the homepage on the new system a little odd on my iPhone, Only the forum has a new style. The front page is as it has been for ...

Photobucket

I have added effectively the same fix to our forum. Photobucket images are now visible. I'm sure it won't last forever. I'm still working on using the local copies I have downloaded for future security, but its rather complex and time consuming.

Possible Style Improvements

I have received some criticism of the current style, in particular how it appears on small mobile screens. I have a few suggestions for possible improvement and I invite comment on them. remove the list of moderators (full and mobile view) remove forum icons on mobile view cleaner, sharper icons for...
