Fuel hose

I seem to remember writing this last month in another thread? I read that if you add water to your fuel, agitate it then let it settle, then siphon off the “water” that settles at the bottom, it will take most of the ethanol with it. Is that true or is it chemically bonded to the fuel and not that ...

MK2 Sabre Breaking for parts

Are Sabre boot struts the same as an SS1?

EDIT: Thanks Jimmy, I would be interested in those if they're usable. Can you PM me if so? :)

Photo's upside-down

Not sure if this is significant, but on both Firefox and Chrome the images show "incorrectly" on the forum, but opening the image in a new tab, they're the right way up. In Edge, the images are still incorrectly rotated. EDIT: Might try adding the following the CSS class "postimage" image-orientatio...

SS1 front indicator & side light unit

They originally had those standoffs through the back piece, with a nut holding them to the bumper, and the lenses held on with plastic screws going into the female part of standoff. http://www.scimitarweb.co.uk/sgwrs/download/file.php?id=29505 http://www.scimitarweb.co.uk/sgwrs/download/file.php?id=...

Emissions test and catalytic converter

I was reading a bit about this recently. MOT manual has criteria for vehicles used BEFORE 2002 with an older engine (test based on engine), cars used AFTER 2002 (test based on car), and a bunch of flow charts. https://www.mot-testing.service.gov.uk/documents/manuals/class3457/Section-8-Nuisance.html...

Refitting windscreen

Had it replaced today whilst I was at work by some very good fitters. IMG_1523.JPG Screen had definitely been replaced at some point in the past...and very badly. Only one corner of the screen had every been attached properly, and it's a miracle it made it from Glasgow to Hull on a trailer without f...

Refitting windscreen

My windscreen isn't stuck down along the bottom or corners, but otherwise OK.
I've got someone coming to have a look and quote to refit tomorrow, just wondering if there's anything I should know beforehand.
I think the current one is marked Solaglas(??), is that likely to be the original?

Ford's SS1

Thank you for the replies

Handbrake not working properly was because of the little plastic pad wear indicator things getting stuck behind the levers on pads. They are quite a loose fit, so if I have any trouble with it again they'll come out and replace with bungs.

Ford's SS1

Long time since posting again (sorry for another War and Peace, Jim  ) Wipers are working fine now since oiling the wheelbox. Alternator belt swapped for an AVX10 profile which is a perfect fit in the pulleys. Don't recall the length, something over 800mm. Had to remove carb to clean and servic...

Rear hub

The hubs came out for me without much trouble using the puller in picture.
It needed a press to get the bearing out of carrier though.
