Radiator basics - a conundrum?

Had a heated debate on the expansion process last night and still no outcome so here it is in simple terms.... Water heats up, expands and pushes air out of the rad cap followed by any excess water. All good so far. But when the engine cools how does the air get back ? It’s against the rad cap sprin...

Overdrive gearbox mount.

Yes I’ll need to get a long first gear so it’ll be 2.98. I’ve covered the bellhousing mods under another thread. Yes the Mazda box was on the list but the adaptor plate seems to be the issue. I’ve seen one and it was awful - it didn’t line up properly and the bellhousing-to-plate is three 1/4 screws...

Overdrive gearbox mount.

All in all about £1200 against a lot of festering about with two boxes plus unknown rebuilding cost of one of them and it’s overdrive plus electrics.
Yes more expensive but the T9 I fitted to the crossflow engine TVR Vixen is a great box !

Overdrive gearbox mount.

I’m needing to get on with this and as the mount height isn’t discounted as an issue, I’m going to use a Type 9 and get it rebuilt as heavy duty. It fits, has the 5th gear and I’ll mill up another bellhousing and get the adapter plate. At least it’s lighter, has no electrical involvement and I have ...

Overdrive gearbox mount.

I’ve measured up and typically the mount height difference is quite critical - so if anyone has the dimensions of the relative levels of B1 and B2 it would be greatly appreciated:

Overdrive gearbox mount.

Thanks Jim It’s the ‘no rods’ 4 speed v the 2 rod o/d. Essentially is the mount position of the o/d box difference ie up/down or front-to-back of the ‘no rods’ I have two 65mm exhaust pipes perilously close plus a central silencer to content with! Many thanks for your help here it’s much appreciated...

Gearstick o/d v non overdrive

Are they both designed to mount at the same height?

Gearstick o/d v non overdrive

Thanks for the reply - it’s going to be the mount height (if any) that’s going to be the make it break.... (see my question today). Hopefully someone will either have the swap or have both gearboxes under the bench !!
