measured up for the new fan belt, well alternator belt as that's all that's on it now i've deleted the PAS and air con
a 6PK883 fitted perfectly

also got the gearbox mount welded up

where did you get the new interior light? are they readily available? i could jubilee clip a bean tin to the end of it Phil :lol:

finished the oil filter/cooler adaptor today and got it fitted in place

I’d try it without a silencer first? I was also going to split the pipe ahead of the axle and restore the twin pipe zen :D i started on dropping the fuel tank earlier and was looking at that - there is space for it to go through but i'm not sure the twin pipe is worth the hassle :lol: what i might ...

cheers can't wait to see how it drives yeah me too - i drove a 130ps 1.9tdi polo the other day same which is a similar weight to the Scimitar and it went like stink - if the scim goes as well as that i'll be smiling :mrgreen: other progress i'm making a full stainless exhaust from the turbo back 2.2...

Just interested: how do you match the bell-housing & plate centres with such accuracy? That's quite a height to travel & keep dead square. in the photo ive put on the gauge (DTI or dial test indicator) is connected to the end of the crank so you spin the engine round and the DTI reads the run off w...

Jim do you have access to a DTI ? it would be interesting to see the run off on the supplied plate before you CAD copy it you can take the bellhousing off on the 5 speed RX8 box (not sure on the 6) if you bolt it up and clock it to make sure its ok - from what i read up it should be within 0.12mm Th...

on one of the facebook groups there is a guy who has one fitted into an se5a i can't remember his name but it's a white car with 15" rota grids fitted don't know if its a 5 or 6 speed but from what i gather he's still got the essex v6 in might be worth seeing if he'll come on here and share details ...

thanks :) after all the messing about trying to find a smaller alt i decided to fit the original one and make a new bracket for it - luckily i have a spare bare block which i used to jig this up still needs finishing off back lug mounts and some strength welding in but i can get the alt in the corre...

earlier on in the thread i mentioned that the vw oil filter/cooler housing fouled the chassis leg, well this is my solution to it. I've tried a few relocate ideas but in the end i've decided to use the original one I'm making a spacer place to pack it out from the block i've made 2 plates and bolted...
