Drive back from Skegness was lumpy. Car juddered most of the way. As I turned off the A616 and started heading to holmfirth things got worse. I think that was where my sticky needle valve problem started. Managed to limp home by keeping it going with the accelerator pump. Also hot wired the battery...

That looks a fantastic result for your first time spaying!
I have been following your logic re working on car with no Le Mans. Have completely re surface tissued my coupe and spending hours sanding.
