Rebel 750 master cylinder

Post by turbster » Fri Oct 04, 2019 3:00 pm

Few hours here and there this week sees it up and running/stopping, taxed and insured.. I’ve treated it to some new wheels but they’re 3/8” studs instead of the 7/16” on the Rebel so I just need to sort that out 👍

Bit of an update on the Rebel...

Sorted the wheels out and very happy with the choice 8)

Now to make it look a bit smarter, so I started stripping the paint which a wasn’t too bad as a lot was falling off anyway! Still took a while and while I’m pretty sure it’s the original paint it looks to have been flashed over in places with that turquoise blue they came in before being painted white.

The front corner has been damaged but there was enough left to do a repair, and after using a ratchet strap attached to a girder to persuade it to get back to where it should be..

I’ll finish it off when I do a few other GRP repairs, but it’s held it’s shape so it looks like a success.

So off into the paint room after stripping all the bumpers, lights etc.. At this point I came to the conclusion there was no escaping the fact that the painted areas of the interior would look awful when I’d freshened up the outside.. So out came the interior and I removed all the paint from that too

And that was this afternoon. I’ll hopefully get a bit more time on it this week to get it ready for primer!

 Yeah that would be very original!

Seriously, it’s only a matter of time before GTE‘S have panels grafted in the back and get ‘trotterised’ as it seems anything Reliant is game now

With the white revolutions, is the body going to end up gloss white, with a satin black bonnet in homage to your 1st sprint GTE?

Definitely gloss white and the black bonnet has crossed my mind.. Trying to suppress the urge to drop a bigger engine in at the moment
