Wiper wheelboxes

Post by simmit » Sat Aug 03, 2019 7:35 am

Duff wheelbox, drivers side, must replace. Will do both at same time.

For future reference shall be pleased to know:-
1) Are wheelboxes same for 5's, 6's and Middlebridge?
2) Are they same passenger side and driver side?
3) Are front and rear boxes same?
4) Do we have part numbers (Lucas, BMC, Reliant, whatever)?
5) Are they common with other vehicles and if so which?

Apologies, that's a lot of questions I know but I'm building information bank to pass on to future owners and can't easily find this information on the site here. Plenty of hints on how to do the job but little on actual parts (or at lest not together in one place that I can find). Neither the 'Alterpart' booklet nor my GW 'Parts Catalogue' is of use.

Thanks

A good number of answers to those questions will be in the parts manuals or on this site. I’ll try and find time next week to pull them all together into one FAQ thread.

Hi Jim.
This idiot has just found:- viewtopic.php?t=4946&start=15 which goes a long way to many answers.

That’s the one I was thinking of - has some 6 details such as part numbers and number of teeth each side. I think any FAQ thread on wheelboxes should include the motors, fittings, tubes, etc as one “Wiper system” FAQ.

Entirely agree. If as much info as possible on any single topic or system were put in just one place it would save a lot of searching for numpties like me.

That’s the aim of the wiki (for members only I’m afraid) - it just takes time to collate the info into one place.
