Brake pads - the old chestnut
After getting them smoking several times at Harewood, we need to get some better pads in the SS1 (currently on stock road pads which I suspect will be like granite soon). Running the GW-esque vented setup so standard pad size (small/Metro) and the current options from Minisport are:
EBCDP627 - EBC road pads
EBCDP2627 - EBC Greenstuff pads
EBCDP3627 - EBC Redstuff pads
EBCDP4627 - EBC Yellowstuff pads
MLB65/44 - Mintex M1144 rally pads
MLB65/55 - Mintex M1155 race pads
MLB65F4R - Carbon metallic race pads
I’m leaning towards either yellows or the 1144 unless anyone can suggest better?

I would go red for tracks - We have yellow on our two SS's with vented discs for ordinary road use

I’ve got the Red stuff on the Volvo T5 and find them terrible until the 2nd or 3rd application and they’ve got some heat in them. Not much use until half way round a sprint..
How do you find the yellows? OK from the first application?

I've got a set of new (or near new, i cant recall) yellowstuff pads here that I had from Raz, make me an offer if you are interested?
I'm running Mintex 1144 pads in mine and does what I need it to. Pagid probably don't do an uprated compound for the metro pad, but if they did....

I changed from green to yellow as I found the greens disappointing - yellows are fine - all of the time for my use

That’s about the same story I keep hearing about greens - they seemed to have good reviews when they first came out but not heard good things since.

Probably right on Pagid. I just know the RS4 (?) Compound pads I used to run in the Porsche calipers were incredible.

I used yellow on the Sabre (GW discs) and now using them on the SS1 (Wilwood/Mazda), and they’ve been good in all conditions. Nice and predictable, and stop well hot or cold.

The Mintex M1144s are good. I've always found EBC very disappointing; yellow were okay but still not great. One of my favourites are NOS asbestos pads too, not much is as good as them

I,m with oaksey. Had brake fade problems on my ss1, fitted 1144 and was well pleased with them. On GW discs. Yellow stuff work well on my mr2, but bigger brakes to start with.

1144 no question. EBC greens were great, but early 2000s they changed the brew, probably to meet some.legislation or other and never been same since.
Pagid rave pads are awesome, but mine were over 100 quid a set for the front! (Not a road caliper mind)
