https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1980-RELIANT ... ctupt=true

Looks good and interesting spec but too far from me to go and view.
No mention of chassis which would be my main concern.

...and I wonder what the '3 litre' engine is... still the Cologne, but modified?

Looks good though!

Been "Messed" with too much for me.
All those "Extra" bits in the engine bay may come back and cause trouble later.
Clutch master cylinder is not OE.
Ignition coil is not OE
What is that "Thing" under the Ballast Resistor next to the wiper motor. :w

2.8 Cologne engines don`t need a ballast resistor as they have an electronic dizzy and system as standard, so it`s not an improvement.
All the clocks have been changed, what happens if they go wrong?, where do you get replacements from?.
Walnut trim my arse, its the water dip transfer covering.

Who`s LSD is it and who fitted it ?.
Sorry to be negative but its a :w when something goes wrong.
Its a shame that Bray Van Sales did not actually do any of the work and are hoping to get a return.

About three years ago this car was for sale on eBay. Then it was in poor condition and had stood out in all weathers causing damage to the interior trim. Previously it had belonged to Shane Hughes see Dave Poole Sporting Reliants site and look in Modified Motors. There is a full spec of the car including details of a 3.7 Cologne engine. Assuming of course that the car has not been substantially altered since.

This was a lovely car once, and it looks like someone has done a lot of work to get it back to a good useable condition. Loads of errors in the listing but nothing that would put me off if I was in the market for another C?

The gauges look like Smiths magnolia to me - expensive off the shelf replacements for the originals.

I didn't get to look at the auto to manual car that I asked about on here a few weeks ago and this one is even further away from me although possibly easier to get to by train.
The 3.7 engine spec on this car, if it's still in the car would explain the performance improvements but the stood out in all weathers frightens me. Chassis rot anyone?? A friends car is currently off the road due to chassis rot and another I enquired about a few months ago turned out to be in a similar state when the seller poked a screwdriver though after I asked him to test it. (That car was taken off the market). Oh well I'll keep looking.

When I mentioned that in a previous sale this car was in poor condition due to standing out in all weather's the interior appeared to have suffered presumably from leaks from the hood. However the photos showed it on a driveway or hard standing. The chassis could be good, and if you are happy with a modified car then it may well be worth the train fare for a close look. The then vendor seemed genuine.

Just catching up
It was in Brightwell's auction in February.
It may have also been a buy-it-now when it first appeared on eBay, but I didn't make a note.
