Auto Retro / French Scimitars in the spotlight

Post by tanuki » Mon Dec 31, 2018 2:20 pm

Hello there,

FYI the next February issue of AutoRetro - at the newsagents on January 15th ... don't ask me why  -
will feature a long article dedicated to the GTE & GTC.

Based upon the feedback from french Scimitar owners collected over the past 3 months, this article will be published
under the section "Le Vrai Prix de ..." ("True price of ...").
I had a sneak peek on the draft of this article and it will certainly bring our Scimitars in the spotlight of the French classic cars community

Now get yourself a good cognac and relax in your Chippendale because it will take time to read it through ...
this will be the longest article "Le Vrai Prix" ever published in AutoRetro ... beating the 911s, Ferraris or Lotus
Indeed: 6 full pages or introduction of the various generations of GTE/GTC followed by 6 pull pages of testimonials from owners
illustrated by ... nearly 80 photos of French Scimitars  :D

I will post scans of the article - with the authorization of the editor - asap

Cheers & Bonne Annee to all Scimitar nuts around here
Fred

Thanks for the date, Fred.
I asked my newsagent last week when the magazine would arrive - but I thought it was the january issue
80 photos of GTE's and GTC's, that should attract some attention!
Now about the five or six french Coupés ...

Nice! I have participated to the one regarding the Chimaera recently, it's a good idea to collect owners' feedbacks.

Hello Zeb  ... oh what a coincidence, I also took part in this article on the Chimaera
It's indeed an interesting exercise to collect testimonials from actual owners, and show their cars side by side at the end of the article 8)
There will be one on the Citroen Ami8 in the months to come ... I have been asked by Xavier to take part - since it was my very first car as a student -
but I cannot find any picture of it on the computer
Cheers,
Fred

Hello Chris,

Oh, those issue numbers & months are so confusing: the February issue comes out around mid-January, and so on ...
so when you buy the magazine it's always the issue on the next month
I confirm that the February issue #438 will be available at the newsagents next week 8)
That's what it looks like - I already have it on my desk :P one of the first printout fresh from the early printers' batch -
I have read the article ... it's brilliant ... will post tonight !!

Cheers,
Fred

Ah, very useful, now I know what to look for on the shelves among the hundreds of car magazines
It looks as thought the Citro Museum at Castellane features in this issue too, Scimitars and Sabres have been there a couple of times ...

Auto Retro / French Scimitars in the spotlight

Post by tanuki » Fri Jan 11, 2019 7:14 pm

Dear all,

With the consent from the editor, I am pleased to show you the article ... even before it arrives at newsagents.
A chance to practice your French, or just watch the 83 pictures of French Scimitars
The first 6 pages of presentation of the GTE are illustrated with Francis' beautiful yellow LHD 6a (with webasto) 8)
The last 6 pages are testimonials from French Scimitarists, backed up by a selection of pictures.

It has been a pleasure for AutoRetro to prepare this article with the help of all the people mentioned in the paper,
thanks to you guys for helping us promoting the marque :P

After the article on a yellow SE5 in April '15, soon followed by another article on my Yellow "Flying sub3" - aka "Custard" -
in June '15 ... here is yet another article which might have introduced a bias in Scimitar colors ... save the last set of
pictures which fortunately confirms that they come in all sorts of colors

Either later this year- or maybe next year - there should be a similar article dedicated to the pointy ones
and we will not forget the Sabra/Sabres and Coupes of course
Before that, and as soon as they are both on the road again, Xavier is thinking about a standard article featuring our SS1 & SST ...

Cheers,
Fred

Amazing!
Francis' car looks stunning, just one thing though, do you realize that ALL the GTE's that have been featured in Auto Rétro are yellow
Can't wait to get my hands on the magazine next week.
