Which colour looks best?

Post by MarkHawkins » Fri Jan 19, 2018 10:48 am

I think the question is now which shade of green to get it painted. The colour needs to be an approximation or average of the various shades of l green it appears in photographs in in the last few decades. Shaun told me the last paint colour used on it was a Nissan colour but we don't know the exact shade. The article from the 1999 magazine has fair quality picture.

Which colour looks best?

Post by philhoward » Fri Jan 19, 2018 10:53 am

I recall a Nissan colour very similar used on the 80's Bluebird (and Sunny I think) - tenuous Scimitar link as well given the partial engine donor for the 1800Ti?

Have you asked Terry Cox if he remembers the colour?

I'm having lunch with Terry Cox next week. I can ask him what colour it was, if you like? :)

The car has been about 3 different shades of green, but is so badly deteriorated it can't even be scanned to get a match. First time it was green it was on the darker side of the range suggested here. The more recent touch ups are not even close. Trouble is it needs to be a colour we can get a name and a code for - I'm afraid mid 80's greeny-silver that they do Rovers in (For example) doesn't cut it with the paint shop 8)

Frankly I would not get hung up over this. Pick the colour you like. These are not cars of great historical significance.

My Coupe was at least 3 different colours before I got it.

I spoke to Terry Cox - he still had the paper work for the last repair he did and it was Nissan leaf green metallic code 719. I've also learnt it has John Wade big valve heads (but no roller rockers) and a mild cam upgrade. :)

Is that in the Forebears book or the Reliant Sportscars book, JC?
yes Forebears mate, sorry I missed this post.

Personally I agree with scimjim and 100% think the car should be the metallic green as it has been for most of its life.

Excellent - although that Aston colour’s lovely too.

This “DB6” may be the same colour but the light changes the shade?
