FIA Homologation

Post by pigiron » Wed Oct 15, 2014 2:34 pm

I was very pleasantly surprised to discover that the SE5 was homologated by the FIA in group 2 under registration number 1610. I have managed to obtain a copy of the papers via download but some of photos and hand written sections are not legible.

It is a long-shot but does any one have a set in better condition?

Also can anyone shed any light on it's past competition history as a group 2 touring car, did it ever compete?

Are you sure? Surprised this hasn't been identified previously, it was hard enough finding the Sabre papers!

Yes 100%, I have recently been spending hours on Google researching which sensibly priced cars have FIA homologation and bingo;

Interesting - pity you can't see the number plate too, as chassis #006 is one of the missing early cars! Production didn't start in 69 though, I wonder if that was a deliberate mistake?

1971 "Special touring cars" looks like showroom spec with just a few minor mods allowed?

Perhaps a mod could move this into the competition section?

Re dates etc. Manufacturers were always up to tricks. To homologate the Sabre Six for rallying 100 cars to produce. I'll give you one guess as to why the chassis numbers for the 77 cars go from 1 to 8 and then 109 to 177. 110,111,112 being the '63 Monte cars.

Now: '62 Sabre 4, '63 Sabre Six, '65 SE4, '00 BMW E38 740i sport.
Prev: '53 ZephyrZodiac, '64 Sabra GT, '68 Elan S3SE, Mk3 Cortina 2000GXL, Mk4 Cortina 2000 Est, 3 SE6a's, 2 SE5a, SE4a Turbo, 1800Ti.
Company: Cav SRi, Cav SRi 130, Honda Concerto 1.6 (yuk)

If the homologation has expired (5 years after manufacture ceases?) will re-homologation be possible if no race history can be found?

I don't know if it's just my PC, but when I follow the OP's link I get a long list of TIF docs, one of which is presumably the one in question, but there's no indication of which (and it is a very long list), and no apparent way to search? Can anyone point me to the correct one? Thanks

correct me if I'm wrong but is that date at the bottom left of page 13 "26/10/95"?

and the date/time against it in the root directory (which may be date scanned?) is 26. juli 1996 11:31
