What about asking that they write a regular slot about their experience, in exchange for their club sponsorship?
fully agree, its been a damp squib to the wider membership imho, and certainly hasn't had any wider than scimitar world exposure that ive seen . We as compies see what Josh and Mikey are doing (great work btw Boys 8) ), but very little other than that :-(
one article in slice halfway through the year isn't enough.

whilst Mikey and Josh have both been supporting the championship, Simon hasn't competed yet this year, although did attend a test session at Curborough.

Ah yes, forgot Mikey!

To be clear - this is not a dig at the 'academy members'.

The academy is a great way to get people into the championship and raise our profile that we need to play off.

Can we make sure next years are a little slower though!

I cant see anyone taking offence at discussing it Nick, the ideas great (think most/all agree on that) its potential improvements based on hindsight after its first year running :-)

I received a junior package, paying for my entry at Curbs. (For which I am very grateful). However more than that it was the spur to enter.

I will have attended three events including Anglesey -double header, Curbs and Wiscombe. This will include 2000 miles of driving to those events. I had intended to do more but (for me) living in the back of beyond the calendar is a bit distorted, mainly midlands for a few months then the down south all in September which clash with two immediate family birthday’s and a wedding anniversary in September. Will have to plan things a bit better next year.

I have returned my car to roadgoing and obtained all the necessary safety equipment (including some fetching underwear donated by Craig :)). That has cost me about £1500 but mainly due to gearbox / carpets / seats and new wheels / tyres. I had to do this to make her roadgoing compliant but also a bit safer.

I have not been approached to write up however I did start a fresh forum thread following my first year of sprinting.

I also intend to do an article for slice encapsulating my whole first year. I was going to do it earlier but I thought leave it for the autumn when the curbs hullabo has died down and we’re not doing a feast and famine

Josh has been a brilliant first choice. Hopefully he’ll go to modprod next year.to give me a chance to win something although if BC FlatCap Brian and Phil The Leadfoot Morgan come back to roadgoing I’m not so sure. (and others in the background (Paul, Jim)

However it is fantastic and somehow we need to convice others to have a go...

I dare say there's no problem sending Terry an article as soon as you can - he does (according to his Slice article) struggle for content, so even if it's a "story so far" I'm sure he'd be appreciative even if it doesn't make the next issue but the one after (at which point you'll have written the sequel so can have a double feature of your own!).

Josh and Mikey have both been hugely enthusiastic supporters and ambassadors for the Club, Academy and Go-Faster Scimitars in general. Talking to either of them their enthusiasm and knowledge just bubbles through and they make the 'jump' from scim owner to compie look positively easy for many, I just think as Compies we see this first hand, but the wider Club membership and classic motoring world ought to benefit too.
the PR arm do well to place standard models (of the cars ;-) ) for various mag shoots and articles, hopefully the same efforts could be looked at for the Academy?

Articles to Slice are a good way to go.

Perhaps Paul could try the MSA, they seem very keen on promoting young drivers.

Concept is a great idea.

I know Matt G puts a lot of effort into getting good relationships with classic mags so they write positive things. Maybe it's worth asking him to see if they're interested in the comp side of huge cars rather than just the usual road tests they do?

Just read Josh's article. Good stuff!

Still can't believe you have no license or competition experience!
