I plan to continue to run my MR2 in Classic Marques next year. In road going again.

Although I will probably stay with list 1A s the Blue Book says I can run list 1B, R888 seem to be on this list not !c but need to be E marked, can others confirm? I know I will need to check next year's Blue Book.

Not sure if you can still get the R888 but the replacement R888R is E marked and 1b.

Nick, 99.99% sure the ones I used this year are E marked. They’re R888 SG (soft) in 195/50/15. Retail at about £400 a set.

I’m not using mine next year (as I’ll need 13”) so are up for sale.

Thanks,

Will probably not decide until early next year, but nice to know it is an option. What,s the view on the time gain from 1bs .?

Usual problem of limited tyre choice in 15’s.

Both R888 and R888R are E-marked, I was using a pair of R888R and a pair of Nankang AR1's yesterday, very similar grip levels

On the CM handicap, I reckon that you need in excess of 200bhp over 900kg to either make it work or break even.

Given the weight and power of the car it is likely I will stay on Ia's ,just a case of exploring options. Ideally I would like lower profile tyres to lower the gearing, but 15 in wheels are the smallest that will fit. Likely outcome will be to go to 16 in wheels with low profile tyres.

You can get T1R in a 45 profile, which may lower the gearing enough on a 15” wheel.

Standard tires are 195/55/15 front and 225/50/15 rear. Currently TiR Proxes. OK tyre, not much good at Blyton in the wet! 6 in front, 7 in rear, slightly wider might be better

Best I have found todate is 205/45/16 and 225/40/16 which lowers gearing about 3% . Have not seen a 225/45/15 which would be fine. Have seen 225/45/15 in R888 which partly prompted the question.

I think there’s a Nankang 1B in 225/45/15.

The rear needs to be at least 225, again, a 225/45/15 would be good, but would I get the 1b handicap back? That’s the issue
