weather was intermittent - dry, light rain or a couple of slightly heavier showers, for most of the day but aside from a few spins Josh had the only real damage when he removed Steve's patented grasscutting intercooler spoiler :-)

many thanks to Paul and Nick for organising (and Dave for opening up and being official photographer) - and Craig for helping out and going round in most of the cars :-)

Phil trounced all of the small sports - that 1900 has got some grunt with the exhaust and the suspension's set up really well too.

Traffic was horrendous Northbound on the M42 & M5 - apparently the M25 and A14 are similar but hopefully everyone will manage to have avoided it? Mikey and Paul left half an hour before me but passed me twice (I was towing) :-)

Yep, thanks to the organisers and helpers :)
I didn't know Phil's car had a 1900, I assumed it was 1600. It went very well and was very well driven
Jim, shh, he's still mad

Video is being uploaded now :)

I think we were all mincing around the sub 75 mark and Phil was under 72?

Most of mine were 73-74, but I got a low 72 at the end before it started raining :D

Phil was close to breaking the 70 second barrier, but decided to quite while he was ahead :)

Massive thanks to all involved, had an ace day! Double thanks to Nick for putting up with me not being able to confirm my place until the last minute - don't worry that Nigerian banker's cheque is rubberised, so it should be ok to bounce

I realise now what that mangled bit of ally by the timing hut was, Josh, you were certainly going some, hats off to ya :)

Paul A was putting up some smooth fast laps in the very shiny Ex - L.English 1800ti, last I saw he'd posted a low 71?

The SS1 CVH roadie was going very well. I was being a bit rubbish in the morning and making a mistake or two on most laps, but calmed it down when the rain came in and that seemed to work as a means for smoothing out some lines and such.
Still suffering from oil surge, especially round the molehill, but turned a blind eye and pressed on regardless having emptied the remainder of my spare oil into the poor thing.

Really wanted to break the 70 second barrier, but having to drive the car home, and having promised the GF that I wouldn't break it, I thought I best leave on a high.

Mikey, sorry we didnt get the Gopro in your car at all, unfortunately it ran outta juice on my penultimate run. Thankfully though it caught the footage of me pushing too hard, the results of which made me think maybe I'll come back another day

Just watched your vid Josh, yes that first corner was a bit slippery after the rain shower!

I'm blaming you for the off  It was the lap just after I went out with you and you were talking about taking it with little lift off. I forgot that I had about 60-70 more BHP and thought I could do similar

Lifting off is a dangerous thing too, it lightens the back end and can cause it to step out as you found out.

I think I said "ease off"

Or in a CVH "flat out"

You mean this shiny bit of Aluminium Phil

That was my hand-crafted air scoop for my intercooler

Good job I fitted so that it was sacrificial (not deliberately though  )

And this is what it did look like

Had a great day, Big thanks to Nick / Dave / Craig and to the other fellow entrants. nice to put names to faces and got plenty of advice for competing.

We had to stop for fuel and then we were going to go via redditch but changed our mind. That's why we passed jim twice! Traffic though to Bristol was great. At Bristol though it all went very pear shaped. All in all took 4 hours to get back to cheddar from curbs. I'm stopping here with bro for the night before onto falmouth tomorrow with all the bank hol traffic !! 650 mile round trip

at curbs got down in the low 74's in the gte despite tyres the size and resiliance of balloons. plenty of spins on the damp track:)

Owner of a fantastic se5a (nee 5 speed) that's a bit quick (well, feels like it is!!) and now running on lpg
