OK here we go........

Saturday was the double lapper of roughly half the circuit. Lots to learn ! loads of camber changes, uphill, down hill, hairpins and some were an amalgamation of all those  Not only that, with it being a wide track, the best lines were far from obvious. For the two new boys (Steve O and myself) it was pretty daunting, but we kept chipping away at it

72 - Brian
73 - Steve O
74 - Me
75 - Red Rocket

Sunday was the full international circuit. This was just fantastic and we got lots of goes at it. It's not quite as technical as the double lapper, but it's bloody fast (I saw in excess of 120mph on the speedo  and was hitting 100mph coming out of Church on my final run :D :D :D ) . I think the key to this is picking the right line, being late on the brakes and having a huge pair of gonads to carry the speed through the fast corners

Unfortunately after destroying the TVRs on on Saturday, RR had to retire with broken water pump after just one timed run. Even with that I think he was 2nd in the inter marques

Well done all! Good scalping by Red Rocket!

Has BC been adding loopy juice to his tank, or is that new engine now matching the hooligan nature of the driver?

Firstly - it was a great weekend and good to have the company of BC and Mrs BC, SC and SO and family all there. Brian was charging with his new engine, both Steves put in some really quick times in their first time at Ty Croes and we all left a happy bunch. :D :D :D

We were invited to join the Classic Inter Marques for the weekend covering the MG classes and TVR classes. All use the same power/weight/tyres/track length adjustment handicapping system. Steve who runs the championship (debated elsewhere on the forum) is a very nice chap who drove up (not competing) from South London for the weekend and produced the results after every run for 23 competitors - and a nice pot for the overall winner each day. He is a TVR man but seemed genuinely pleased that a Scimitar took honours on the Saturday and an MG today. I know there are differing views on running the inter marque alongside the SSSC - I've got to say that I found it fascinating to be pegging our times against other marques and the results on both days were very close at the top of the table with a good mix of all 3 marques throughout the results page.

The Inter marque is with us next at RSSOC Curborough and Steve is again offering a weekend joining fee for Scimitars. (and before I get shot down in flames I am NOT (and neither is Steve) suggesting it as an alternative to the SSSC). :w

TY Croes is an excellent event - 2 different circuits over 2 days and up to 5 timed runs each in excess of 2 miles.....worth travelling to 8) - oh and there's also a clubhouse :pint

Yes a really excellent weekend; thanks to Steve C, Brian and Trevor for all their help and support over the weekend. The track really was superb; Saturday more demanding technically the double lapper took the Ti standard brakes to absolute limit :w and Sunday was very fast and a real test of nerve as Steve C says.

This was my first time towing the car to an event (first time towing actually  ) and it was a long 3 hour drive through the BH traffic. A bit stressful towing with my RR Classic which did not like the hills of Wales.

Further stress created by a scrutineer who was not happy with my harness during noise testing (I'd already passed scruntaineering by then :? ). It was sorted by removing the passenger seat harness and using a second fixing plate on the drivers side. Another job to sort out now

Well done to TS for his win in the inter marques; pretty sure he would have won Sunday too but for the pump failure. BC was as smooth as ever and pipped me on time by 6/100 of second today (murdered me on handicap though) . SC improved every session today and put in a great time on the last run but not sure it was enough to beat BC on handicap :?:

As for me I was a bit up and down both days with a few missed gear changes and obvious errors here and there. Still very much finding my feet and my way round these hills/ circuits. My car is pretty fast in a straight line; trouble is that there don't seem to be too many of them out on track; corners keep getting in the way and decisions on line and braking points have to be made

A very enjoyable weekend; cheers again guys :pint

Brilliant weekend in great company :D

Already looking forward to doing it all again next year. It has to be the best value sprinting available for £'s per mile on track, and what a track :D . Plus free camping, with good facilities.

I've got some on board video that I'll try and post later.
