Debden 6th October 2019

Post by efi_sprintgte » Tue Oct 08, 2019 6:10 pm

Fully aware it’s not on the championship any more, but we still get a RSSOC/SSSC invite (and our own class). It’s a track I enjoy a lot and as Goodwood was wifeys Birthday, Combe over subscribed... it seemed like a good opportunity to get out one last time this year.

James Carter 82.35 (JKL)
Richard Carter 90.99 (Cossie Coupe)

Here is a good write up from Pete Walters:

Many thanks to all who participated in our Debden Sprint on 6th October 2019.

After a dark and extremely wet early morning setting up, we were blessed with a windy Autumn Sunday and drying track. A healthy number of entrants enjoyed our fast flowing course, followed by a convivial awards ceremony.

We began by belatedly presenting the original FTD goblet for the 1959 HCAAC Brands Hatch Sprint to Roy Millbank, on his 86th Birthday. Sorry about the delay, Roy.

As this sprint was in memory of Julian Kirwan, today's awards were handed out by his wife Wendy and his elder brother Jez. The special award for the Spirit of the event went to Phill Spurge (number 2) who drove over from France to compete in a Ford Mexico that was originally built by Julian.

The full final results are attached. In addition, our scrutineers thought the best presented car was the green Mallock 24B (number 86) driven by David Hill.

Our weather-beaten marshals enjoyed an excellent free lunch from our caterer Pukka Tukka and received a cash award at the end of the day to show our club's appreciation for their vital contribution.

If you have any photos from the day, please do send them to me for inclusion in our Stag Party magazine.

Our next Debden sprints will be on 10th May and 4th October 2020, plus we have an extra "LotusFest" sprint at Hethel on 26th April 2020. So please put those dates in your diary and make sure you don't miss out!

Best regards,
Pete Walters

Good work team Carter!

Debden is cracking good fun, and half the price of Good wood!
