fuel pump fuse

Post by DARK STAR » Mon Sep 23, 2019 7:01 pm

Ah, I had a fuse holder like that - it melted.
For the Ford relays, I have had to replace most of them 8)
At the moment it is the purple one which is playing up (engine management?)
The yellow one (fuel pump?) can be replaced with a standard relay (chinese, obviously) but attention! the pinout is not the same so you need to re-wire it.

According to the MB drawing the yellow relay is fuel injector but it also energises the brown one which is for the fuel pump.

Yes!
It was before Don Burt took it over.
Do you know Steve Himsworth?

Peter, what does the purple relay do ?
That's the only Ford one remaining and it is playing up.
And I can't find it on the internet

Its not on the MB wiring diagram at all - are you sure its not just the pump fuse that Chris talked about

I'll have a look tomorrow, there is certainly a fuse in it, but it's very big for a fuse holder -
and when you hit it it springs to life just like a relay

Thinks 'that would explain why I can't find it on the internet ...

How many wires on it, Chris? 2 = fuse. 4 or 5 = relay. Looks like a posh fuse holder to me - and likely the one that had been swapped out on Peters..

Yes, I found that but it ain't the same (and I don't think I have ABS  ).
Looking at photos (it's too dark in the garage) the wires are black/red so fuel pump.
I'll see tomorrow where they come from / go to and if there are any others but you are probably right it's just a fuse.
So dirty terminals ?

Pretty likely - or the springy bit in the terminal isn’t springy enough any more.

fuel pump fuse

Just done a 30A fuse on a tipper truck today.
The hydraulics worked to lift the body but would not lower the load area.
The screws that held it all together were loose and the whole unit just overheated.
