Anti roll bar clamps

Post by simmit » Sun Oct 09, 2016 8:09 pm

Tomorrow I'll enquire of GW or QRG for replacement rear anti roll bar bush clamps but meanwhile can anyone here suggest other possible sources.

For those who may be interested QRG have clamps and matching poly bushes. Originals believed to be Vauxhall Carlton but spares no longer available so QRG supply alternative. QRG offering has bush location protrusion in different place to originals but should be of no consequence if matching clamps are used.

On receiving the bushes and clamps from QRG I find they are identical size and shape (though poly rather than rubber) to the rubber ones removed (original?). It appears there was some confusion in the conversion so no problem.

Having removed the bushes I note the supporting plate on one side is rotten and needs repair, t'other side is slightly bent where the roll bar exerts pressure when operating. The anti roll bar attachments should have been designed more robust in my opinion.

Piccies, as requested. Thought the bushes are fine it's a pity but seems the currently available clamps are only just long enough between bolts. I assume originals were longer.
For good measure, as an area for attention, I've included a photo' of the rotted bush mounting plate on MB50. Why for the sake of a few pence did Middlebridge not galvanise all the chassis members? Beats me!
