number plate lamps

Post by peter freeman » Tue May 14, 2019 8:36 pm

One of my number plate lamps failed so I bought a new pair ( Triumph ) only to find they use a BA9 bulb whereas the originals were T10. The LEDs for BA9 lamps holders are long and therefore touch the glass anyone know where I can get the same style lamp holders that use T10 lamps.

Will,

You could try these people:

www.bettercarlighting.co.uk

Put BA9 into the search box and it will show quite a large selection of different types. If in doubt e-mail them for a data sheet to see the actual physical size.

I have used their bulbs quite extensively on several cars and have found them very good. Also, they are very good at responding to e-mailed questions.

You can still buy metal ones with glass lenses if you prefer it to plastic Will.

I’m not sure what lights the Middlebridge has - are they just 6/6a/6b/GTC type?

I think they are the same as the 6's Jim but only seem to come with bA9 holders now whereas the originals had T10 bulbs and the BA9 LEDs are longer so they come into contact with the glass.
