Scorpio throttle cable

Postby DARK STAR » Sat Jul 01, 2017 3:27 pm

I found this when I was looking for something else in the garage.
I think it is a standard Scorpio throttle cable.
Certainly the injection end fits a Middlebridge but the other end might be Coupé

I will have it off you Chris if no-one else is in dire need - I have both cars so it won't come in wrong whatever. My MB is off the road for a few days until I can get a manifold to exhaust pipe clamp made - I'm sure I have got one somewhere but as usual cannot find it. Its bound to turn up after I have one made.

Off at a tangent I know but ............... I'm finding this relationship with Scorpio perhaps interesting but quite misleading at times. Recently changed the engine air filter and certainly it's not Scorpio, it's Granada! Generally when ordering parts I'm finding it safer to specify 1990'sh Granada.
Now where's my hat and coat?!

There was also the Granada Scorpio which was the right time - and it was known as the Scorpio in Europe before its name got changed here.

Given Chris lives in France (and sometimes forgets when he lived in England ) he does use the European description sometimes.

Thanks Phil for the history information. It's good to learn a little each day (sadly, at my age I shall forget twice as much tomorrow :? ).

I am starting to get some experience in the cross over now, having owned a few Granadas and now a real Scorpio. It can be a similar minefield to ours, with some parts being totally incompatible.

Latest find is that the ECU connection is a standard OBD2 socket, but with OBD1 protocols plus ABS read. I have had to build by own fault code reader to deal with that.

I have also now got in stock a couple of fault code readers suitable for the Middlebridge which give you a two/three digit code, rather than a flashing LED. I should have those for sale at Curborough.

You mean there is/was a Scorpio that wasn't a Granada?

The "bug eye" limited production run 1994 to 1998 but the 2.9i 12 valve only two years before the Cosworth version arrived.

The mk3 Granada was called the Scorpio in mainland Europe when it was introduced in 1985 (1.8 & 2.0 pinto or 2.3/2.8 EFi cologne, quickly replaced with the 2.4/2.9) and in 1991, a 24v cosworth engine became available. In U.K. it was called the Granada but towards the end of production there was a Granada Scorpio and when the bug eye car redesign was introduced in 1994, the Granada name was dropped.
