I read today that Barry Williams passed away on 8th September;
I met him briefly, I think it was at Castle Combe; very cheerful he was, too.
Long may we remember him.

Ah, another one.
A great character of real motor racing, I have many memories of him.
Rest in peace Whizzo.

He was an after dinner speaker at a CSCC event a couple of years ago, he was ammusing and lets say, from a less PC age. Had a chat with him later on too. He'd driven all sorts & everything.

I occasionally worked alongside him at various public and Corporate events held at various UK circuits some 15-20 years ago.
He was always cheerful with the 'punters' and also with us 'journeyman' Instructors (unlike some well-known Drivers) who tried and sometimes failed to keep the customers /clients on the grey-bits. I took part in a number of Celebrity races ( as a reserve driver) and ' Whizzo' would stop by, have a friendly piece of advice, then 'tweak' my mirrors on the Starline, and when the race started 'bugger off into the distance...

A sad loss of a jolly fine fellow
