Beaune AOC Montée des 3 Côtes 2014

Post by Oldconn » Mon Sep 22, 2014 3:01 pm

Sunday saw the second running of Beaune AOC's Montée des 3 Côtes - a 200kms scenic tour taking in 3 famous French hills:- Broye-Autun, Ste.Helene, and La Rochepot.
Numbers were down this year, probably due to a dreadful weather forecast(which didn't affect us apart from one shower!), and clash of dates with several other meetings. However, quality was not lacking among the 45 starters. About 70% of the field was British marques , including our solitary SE6a; and several cars had partially-sighted passengers for whom the Tulip-style roadbook had been transcribed in Braille! I have never seen that before  (no pun intended). It was a non-competitive event, but there were questions to be answered en route ; and we were invited to dress according to the era of our cars - nothing younger than 29 years old(just squeezed in!) which explains the appearance of my Jilly  Fantastic scenery, good weather, great cameraderie, and we all made it to the end despite some over-indulgence at the two-hour lunch picnic halt. Pics here:http://www3.snapfish.fr/hpphotocenter_f ... =SALBlink/.
Icing on the cake: one of the "blind" crews was first home ; and your Scimitar crew took away a bottle of "champers" for best dress (worn by the wife, not me!),and a nice bottle of Chardonnay for having travelled the furthest to take part 8)

 Sorry if you can't open my link to the pictures ; Snapfish is not as versatile as Photobucket, and I'm not very clever with computers. I will try to post the link again.

I think the problem is that Snapfish doesn't seem to like viewing by people who aren't registered and logged in. All I see is this:
Snapfish.jpg
Snapfish.jpg (162.01 KiB) Viewed 2241 times
the first photo, and what looks like an invite to sign up to snapfish. It tells me there are 13 photos there, but there doesn't seem to be a way to get to them (without signing up, presumably?). I guess this is why I didn't see any other thumbnails in the other thread?

I signed up and all it does is try to sell you prints or mugs - no apparent links (lien?)

OK I will try try to make it open up. Terry Rickard had the same problem a few weeks ago, it was because I had not authorised public viewing. I will go back into it and read the instructions again. Don't want any mugs, then :?:

Let's see if this works:http://www3.snapfish.fr/hpphotocenter_f ... =SALBlink/
If not, then it looks as though I can only publish one pic at a time. :evil:http://www3.snapfish.fr/hpphotocenter_f ... =SALBlink/
Oh, its flippin' hopeless! :bh
Well I can open it all from this message. Would somebody else like to try, before I jump off the chair, pull the trigger and swallow the cyanide!

Sorry, I didn't explain myself very well - I could see all of the pictures fine but couldn't post links or copy images to here. I get bored very quickly, so won't generally scroll through people's albums on third party sites :-)

Know what you mean. I shall try to use another site that allows me to post images direct.

Forget Snapfish, I have switched to Photobucket. Should have done this a long time ago, but my old computer on Windows XP and I-Ex didn't like it. Now I'm on Windows 7 and Firefox, so it seems to manage much better: http://s1293.photobucket.com/user/oldconn/library/.
Can you see the pics now? :?

Now I need to work out how to make images appear here. Give me a few minutes to read the instructions again.

Click on the photo to maximise it and you'll see the options at top left (Facebook, Twitter, links and email). Select links and you'll get a menu screen (email & IM, direct, html & img). Copy the img address and paste into your post:

Image

Edit - this can give problems with some systems because the address is an image embedded in a url and you only really need the bit between the [img] tags. The way round this is to select the "direct" address, paste into your post and (using the "Img" button at the top of the post reply box) make it into an img

So this is what PB gives you (spaces added):

[ URL=http://s1293.photobucket.com/user/oldco ... 8.jpg.html][ IMG]http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/b60 ... 804768.jpg[/IMG ][/URL ]

This is what you actually need:

[ IMG]http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/b60 ... 804768.jpg[ /IMG]

:D Ah! Thanks a lot Jim. That explains my first failure, I was trying to use the HTML address. It's 'cause I'm a bit long in the tooth to assimilate these things easily! -more than twice the age of my car! SWMBO will be chuffed to bits! :D

Nice one Ian.
Incidentally, I don't have any of these problems - I have a Mac!
