Never try and argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you based on experience.

I don't go near the M1. Basically - A1 - M11 - M25 - M2 and I'm not going fast as being a pensioner I cannot afford the fuel costs - everyone say ahhhhh.

But you bought your own ticket and a hotel in Dover thus shunning the amazing (Basil) club offer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously now ! what time do you land in Calais as if time is OK you could join the non motorway convoy and save yourself 16.40 Euros.

Off at 9:30 tomorrow for the overnight in Calais, M6. toll, M42 M40 M24 etc, bit loner but hopefully less chance of holdups on the way, I just hope I booked the right hotel there, should be with Geoffs links, won't be using peage at all on the way down, will be hitting the avoid tolls and motorwats button on the sat nag, love driving off piste en Francais, far quieter that our non Mways, see ya all tomorrow sometime.

No, I can't make it this year. It would have been possible this year.
Maybe we will meet @Curborough, as I am planning to attend this years meeting.

Well after a really smooth trip down England we arrived at Dover where we came across this very tasty Alvis in the ferry queue,
Image

well filled the gte up at Dover and managed to get a very impressive 37mpg doing a steady 65-70mph, not bad for a 38 year old 2.8 litre v6 carb fed engine me thinks.

After a overnight stop in Calais, myself and SWMBO set off along non motorway's to Laon, we came across a couple in a old english white A35 who seemed to be on some event or had been as they had a rally plate on the front bumper, also spotted a blue or should that really be bleu Renault 8, looked like a Gourdini version as well, also a Bentley speed 6 possibly on his way back from a break after last weekends Laon classic event.
Ran past the rest of the Calais overnighters at their lunch stop outside Arras

When we arrived we found the car park full of Scimitars.
Image

oh and some italian cars of some sort or other sharing with Jims, at least I think it's his SE5 series

Good evening everyone,

I hope all those who attended the International meeting last week-end had a safe trip back home 8)
And for the few who planned to venture deeper into the continent, I hope that the nice weather stayed with you
I had a special thought today for those who had been having troubles and should get back home 'crossing fingers' ...
I hope your Scimis behaved themselves and took you safely home

It was a most enjoyable meeting, no doubt there will be plenty of thanks falling on this thread
For me it was the first meeting ever of this kind, and also my first 'tulip rally' - thanks Bart for being such
a patient copilot aboard the Purple  - and I enjoyed every single moment of it !

I was amazed by the friendly atmosphere, really ... although it's what you'd expect from the members of a car club
I am afraid it's hardly ever the case  ... except at the RSSOC  You guys & and ladies are just great !
Thanks to the GeoffS, Jef & Dee for the organization of such a great event ! I am really looking forward to the
next edition, never mind how far it will be

Here are just a few pictures from Laon on Sunday, parked in front of the Town Hall 8)
I have roughly 360 pics taken over the week-end, thus I am thinking about posting some
of them here on the forum of course. I am not sure which is best: creating a dedicated new
entry under the European section, or simply posting them on this present topic ?
(thanks to the moderators for their advice  )

Cheers for now,
Fred
