System code I assume is the security code - normally on a card in the handbook wallet?

If not, try and find a friendly dealer...

Can’t help on the mystery plug - possibly for a tracker? Do they have those overnight changing posts in Switzerland like in the Nordic countries for engine heaters?

Sometimes main dealer will ask you to remove the stereo to get its serial number. Fingers crossed it’s written somewhere in the handbook.

I have a ton of papers with the car, even sales brochures for the cars and for genuine Jaguar-priced accessories 8)
I'll have a look tomorrow, thanks.

The radio code on my X Type was on a card about the size of a credit card in the leather service folder. If you haven't got that you may be lucky enough to find it on the back of the radio, I used an endoscope to look at the back of a Ford Focus radio once, if not a last resort may be this on the Jaguar forum https://www.jaguarforum.com/showthread.php?t=44665 Hope this is of help.

I had one of those once, same colour! There is a universal code you need to type in to get the display working after disconnecting the battery, try one of the jaguar forums. I had to find it when the original battery died.
The mystery plug might be for transport/shipping, I remember the manual discussing unplugging something when it's delivered to properly wake things up.

Ok, found it thanks.
I risked going as far as the supermarket in the car today (we are out of cheese, monsieur l'agent, essential to go to the shops)
The difference with new plugs is noticeable, performance much crisper and with clear roads I got up to 6000 revs very quickly
But to clear out the cat I need to do at least 50 km at high revs, this will have to wait ...

I'm just trying to understand that we will be freed on monday and I can take the car out for a blast to clear the cats.
Just imagine, I can go anywhere I like (within a radius of 100 km), whoever would have thought

The instructions on the Bardahl pack say use petrol to reserve level, add injector cleaner then 20 litres of petrol ... etc.
Now I reckon that the current fuel level is approx reserve plus 20 litres, if I just pour the stuff in and GO_O_O_O will it mix ok ?
It's quite urgent because I have the controle technique on wednesday

Thanks Jim, always the technical reply
I've hardly had a chance to drive the car since I bought it in december, but it seems to handle very well.
Think I'll try a slalom round our district on the way to the autoroute.

It's actually quite difficult to do 3500 - 4000 rpm for 25 minutes.
Yesterday as planned I stuck it in second to terrify the whole neighbourhood, then onto the autoroute I thought 4th ...
At 50 kph above the speed limit I thought I'd better try 3rd instead, and continued at 90 kph to Théoule-sur-Mer and back.
The car makes a glorious noise at high revs but like Dark Star, it is tiring after 15 minutes

Today I am supposed to finish the treated petrol and refill with clean but the engine is too economical.
I've done over 100 km this morning and it still isn't on reserve
If I go for the control technique will the injector cleaner in the petrol give better / worse / the same pollution figures ?

I’m not sure if the 100km is to ensure it’s done it’s cleaning duty, or to make sure the cleaner is out of the system - if I had to guess I’d say the former?

A mechanic friend years ago used to run high levels of injector cleaner to get cars through emissions tests. I have no idea if it worked, but he swore by it.

My son's Astra diesel failed the MOT last year on emissions and the MOT guy asked if I had put any additive in the fuel before the test, my answer was no. He suggested I put a fuel system cleaner in and change the filter, then run it for a couple of miles at high revs and take it back for an MOT. It passed.
