Netherlands Sabre Six

Postby chrisgallacher » Thu Jan 14, 2010 2:10 pm

Came across photos of a Sabre Six in The Netherlands here:

Don't recall seeing these pics before, so wondered if this car is known to anyone here and if it's on the register?

Just interested - the photos don't say whether the car is for sale, although it says "idle for at least 10 years".

The car is listed on the RSSOC register. There were at least two previous UK owners, the last one had the car in 1983. It was originally registered 6VVO. All the photos I have ever seen of this car seem to have been taken in the same place.

As a matter of interest, of the 77 Sabre Six's made, there is up to date knowledge and information on about 36, based on DVLA information and direct knowledge about 10 are currently registered for the road, and there is no information whatsoever of about 23 cars.

Oh boy, that Sabre looks far worse when I saw it last... oeps, that's a long time ago... When geert van Hout lounched the Middlebridge he also had this car on show. When I worked at this workshop when I was 16, this car was in there a few times for repairs... makes want to cry seeing it like this.

Last week a man phoned me for some info on a Scimitar GT. For some reason this car came up in the converstation. A friend of his lives in the area where this car is parked. The car is get worse and worse. A real shame. Positive side is, the car is still where it has been for years now.
Last I heard the owner is ill (old age related?) and selling the car is out of the question.

We're hoping for 17 Sabra and Sabres at Buxton in 2 weeks time, 5 of which will be Sabras from as far a field as Belgium, Luxembourg and Stockport! 20 sounds like a nice number for Curborough 2011!!

I would say we should include the Sabre Six and, by invitation, the Sabra.

With a fair following wind and a team of drivers I reckon I should try and get all three of mine there. Two will be a cert.

Most of the '61 cars were Sabras anyway even if they all went to the USA. So who is going to be picky about dates when we want to make a media splash.

No but I read some of Philip Youngs stuff about the Marathon. I was credited with a bit more than I actually did.
