Handbrake Cable Clips?

Post by Chet » Tue Mar 10, 2020 6:22 am

In stripping my SE4a body, I found these two 1/4" x 1" bolts at 5the back end of the transmission tunnel. Underneath, in the tunnel, were what appeared to be the remains of two thin steel straps. I can only think they were originally clips to secure the handbrake cables. Are they standard or a modification? And are they necessary?

Handbrake Cable Clips?

It's a while since I changed the handbrake cable but I do remember there being captive clips underneath to hold the cable off the propshaft. I suspect yours have just succumbed to rot. An easy fix with some SS.

When I get out to my Coupe later I can take some photos.

They were a standard fit .
As correctly mentioned they keep the cables off the prop
