Tyre pressures

Post by mikeyb1 » Wed Sep 25, 2019 11:22 am

I have 165/80x15 tyres on my Coupe. If you are using the same size tyres, can you tell me what pressures you use? Can't find any info anywhere! Thanks, Mike.

I use 26 all round on the Sabre Six, same size radial tyres too.

I wouldn’t use the same on all of mine. The SS1 with Rainsports needs about 28psi on the road or the soft tyre wall is unbearable (26psi when sprinting), Touareg needs 34 psi all round or 36F/44R when towing, S2000 needs 34psi or it handles like a boat.

All of our cars are Scimitars of one kind or another Corky - the SS1 and Sabre feel fine on Rainsports at 26psi - our shocker settings are not the same as yours as I found out when I first got your SS1

I have lower profile tyres (195-65x5) and run 32 front, 30 rear for what it's worth.

If the handbook pressures are as accurate as their tank capacity figures I wouldn't take much notice - 21,25 gallons is actually 96,6 litres

Isn't a bar the same thing as a kg/cm2 :?:

Not quite, a bar is 100,000 Pascals but ISA atmospheric pressure is 101,325 Pascals.

Don’t get me started - wasted 20 minutes of my life today trying to find out exactly why a customer insisted his pressure sensors needed to be calibrated in mwg (metres water gauge) instead of something sensible like bar.

It is a water pumping station, so he had a point.

Aviation uses bars (or millibars) because meteorologists use them - apparently they were invented by a Norwegian meteorologist.
