ss1 heater

Hello Everyone,

My 1.6 SS1 drove like a dream to and from Curbs but Clare was like a roast potato when we got home as she couldn't shut the heater off fully and the driver's window wouldn't open! Are the heater flaps notorious for wearing out and not shutting off? I took the centre console out tonight and tried to put the cable into a different hole but struggled to get the retaining clip back on with the cable in the slightly different orientation. Should I try again or try something else?

I took the window motor out and after lubing it up it worked fine - re-fitted it and it went off again. A good thump on the door got it going again!

You need to get upside down in the passenger footwell and disconnect the cable to see if the flap controls are going all the way over.

It could be the exhaust silencer though, I have seen several cars with burnt floors and the bottom of the carpet.

Thanks, will do that before rather than after tea tomorrow!
The air coming out of the end vents is noticably warm, but when we unloaded the boot after we got home the stuff was certainly warmer than I expected so maybe a bit of both. What sort of heatshield above the exhaust would be needed?

Anything reflective - I have metal tape on the passenger underfloor of G97 but a previous car had an alloy plate spaced a few mm off the underside and that worked well (presumably had airflow between the two).
