Probably easier as you have all said but it just does not look right which I find very annoying - this is the only SS1 we have had which has the headlights frames 1" different in height from the ground.

Both frames the same type? Profile of the frame changed at some point. Give away is the mounting screws for the cowls. 3 on early frame and 2 on later.
