My Mk1 1800 Sabre has the seats that seem to be the SST prototype, also have no pockets on the back.

Doug, checked some pics and your car is as per the norm with "pleated" for want of a better term (AJL, your the trim man about town, enlighten us?) black leather.

Actually, scratch the part about plain faced leather on the pototype SST. Appears that is not the case. I recall one of the very first SSTs having plain faced leather, but can't for the life of me find it. Maybe I made it up.....

Anyway, shall edit the post on previous page.

I knew the 1400 SST was a rare beast but still did a double take when I read in Slice 267 that there were only five

The database shows at least ten :-)

Yeah, I read that and thought that's a bit wrong...

I thought we'd collectively worked it out to eleven a while ago because I remember posting that there was over 25% of factory output in Lincolnshire alone... Me, my brother and a bloke not far from Mablethorpe makes three 1400 SST... two blue and one red.

Yep - I was being a bit vague because at least one is dressed as a Sabre and two (including Steve Feay's) appear just inside Sabre production (perhaps we should move the SST line down to include those and accept that 2045 is either a converted SST or a concurrent production car)?

Which is a long way of saying I think there's 13 x CVH 1400s that look like a "conventional" SST?

"monobody cars without arches"?

Running by the premise that Reliant changed the name that often...to me, at least, if it's a monobody and had arches, it's a Sabre. No arches, then an SST. Bit too simplistic?
