Didn't see this before I went to the workshop or I could have weighed an LSD too. Digital scales didn't want to play so the old skool scales are only accurate to 500g:

Prop - 3.5
Trailing arm (poly bushed, otherwise totally bare) - 5.0
Front upper wishbone (balljoint and rubber bushes fitted) - 2.0
Front lower wishbone (balljoint and rubber bushes fitted) - 2.5
Standard caliper (with pads) - 3.0
Metro turbo caliper (with pads) - 3.5
Volvo caliper (with pads) - 4.0
Standard disc - 2.0
GW vented disc - 3.0
Reliant upright, hub and disc - 6.5
Chevette upright, hub and Carlton disc - 8.0
Rear brake drum - 3.5
Rear backplate c/w shoes etc - 4.5
Standard fuel tank c/w sender, filler neck and vent pipe - 8.0
Steering rack - 5.5
Front crossmember - 2.5
Front springs (shortened - pair) - 5.0
Rear springs (shortened - pair) - 3.0
Hardtop (with sunroof) - 20.0
Gearbox (with gearstick, no Bellhousing) - 30.0
Steel CVH Bellhousing - 10.0 (as an example, the Caterham alloy Bellhousing for the K series to type 9 is 5.0 and the Sierra 2.8 alloy Bellhousing is 3.0!)
7.5" diff - 27.0
Front ARB - 4.0
Rear ARB - 2.0

Sorry, I didn't notice you wanted Ti box etc, will do that next time. I've measured a bare tub previously - will see if I can find it.

Edit - actually it didn't say Ti on your list :-)

Ah - it's on page one
scimjim wrote:Front crossmember is 2.3Kg

Bare body tub is 43.1Kg - over 20Kg of that is the windscreen and surround.

Pedal box inc servo & MC is 7.5Kg

Is that for the SS1 or the SST/Sabre?

That's an SS1 tub - I could weigh the separate front and rear sections for a rough idea of a Sabre weight (the tub's the same, just bonded on) - I don't think my scales would take the sabre bodyshell (and it's sat on a chassis at the moment) :-)

Has anyone weighed an entire SS1 in either CVH, Ti, SSt or Sabre format? I've read various accounts of SS1's weighing in from 860kg in base spec up to nearly 1000kg for the Sabres and wondered what the different models actually weigh?

I'll get my Ti weighed at the local scrap yard as they've got a drive on weigh bridge, will post up the results when I have them.

Sabre vs SS1 overall weight I don't think there's much in it, various areas where it's lost and gained on both cars, which sort of levels out, examples.
The Sabre bonnet is much lighter
The Sabre has no rear armature and only the radiator section at the front, with one headlamp motor. The Cobra seats from the Sabre are lighter too I reckon.

I'll try and get one on the weigh bridge, reckon it might be closer to 850 than 900...
Just thought I'd close this by saying that G97 weighed in at 857.5Kg - with the addition of a 6 point cage and a bit of weight reduction around the nose.

That's in roadgoing trim Bryan - carpets, stereo, heater, etc. Still has glass side windows and steel frames so maybe another 5-7kg to lose with Perspex and alloy? Also has a standard passenger seat, so a few more kg to shed there.

That's 70 kg less than my (poverty spec, all vinyl, no El. windows) SS1 which only has a roll bar not full cage... :)
Did you by any chance weigh G97 before lightening, mods etc?

Unfortunately not. I know roughly where I saved weight though - flat plastic door cards to avoid the cage (with manual winders), lightweight mirrors, alloy front armature, alloy & plastic polo rad, lightweight battery, carbon fibre drivers seat, small alloy fuel tank, single skin bonnet, boot and hardtop. Weight added with 6 point cage, wheels & tyres, twin carbs, vented discs (calipers and spacers) & floor strengthening - even the quaife diff probably adds a few grams?

I think nick Keyser's black ss1 is substantially lighter? G97 is about the same as team Oakes twin cam (with less than half the power :-))
