BOND BUG 4-wheeler

Post by drcdb15 » Thu Sep 29, 2011 11:39 am

This lovely little car has had so many changes that it hardly qualifies as a Reliant any more, but nonetheless I think is worthy of mention. I really wanted (I mean... REALLY wanted !!) a Webster but of course it was totally out of my budget. And I thought that none had actually been made beyond a couple of prototypes, as it was all about the time iirc that Reliant generally was falling apart. Such a shame (he digressed), so many really neat ideas coming out of the company at the time, and all down the pan as collateral damage to others' bad behaviour... Ho hum.

Anyway, not only "here it is", but also - it's up for sale !!

Car & Classic, C250184.

Go on, you know you want it !!

That's brilliant :-)

Reliant only made 2 prototypes I think but Mike Webster (Webster Motor Company) acquired some of the moulds (and presumably bought the production rights) and offered 3 and 4 wheeled bugs in kit form or fully built.

iTS OK but I would prefer an orange 3 wheeler

Maybe because I used to see one when I was a young teen and back in the 70s ( will now still really ) it stood out as something really different

unmolested, unfinished and too bl**dy close to me :-)

obviously being sold by a Webster Bug afficianado - apparently they made 24 four wheeled Bugs and an unknown number of kits :-)

Does anyone know what became of Mike and Gary Webster? I am guessing they must still be alive and gainfully employed somewhere?

Well that was six years ago. How time flies when you get to my age ... :(

Anyway, I'm much happier now, because... I've got one !! :D

I'm still getting to grips with all the history that came with it, about 3 box files' worth, but its provenence is outstanding.

It seems that if I join the Bug Club, as a new member I get designated as a Junior Bugger, which at my age is something of a compliment !
