GTC hood suppliers?

Post by ard126k » Thu Oct 31, 2019 11:17 am

I've had a look at past posts and Don Hoods is a name that appears most often. Are they still the go-to suppliers? I also see that Aldridge list GTC hoods on their site, but at nearly twice the price!! Has anyone invested in one of theirs? Has anyone had a hood from any other supplier and can recommend or otherwise?

And finally has anyone gone with a different colour than black?

Thanks

Alex.

I suspect you may need an enhanced subject header, to capture the interest of people who only read the headers?

Rob Jones bought a new one and had it fitted at home, with consequences to the new paint

I used Don Hood for both the GTC and the SS1. Quality is good compared to some hoods Ive seen . I fitted them myself, but you need a warm day in summer for ease of stretching them or some form of heating in a garage. Its a job you need to do when you are in the mood and just take your time.

Hi Alex,
My hood was from Don Hoods - Black Mohair, really really nice until a b***-end fitted it, proper messed up the hood and scratched my newly sprayed car on both sides B post.
Anyway, yes their hoods are nice, I'm going to change my newly messed up hood for a new Mohair Brown hood next year, again from Don's, from memory, the hood was only £500.00 to £600.00, but, I shall be fitting this myself.
Its so very disappointing when someone wrecks your new hood, and its tricky but not too difficult to do, nice warm day & patience required.
Kind regards
Rob..

In what part of the country do you live ?
I had a tonneau cover for a GTC individually made by Guy Broom at
www.westcountrytrimmers.co.uk in Devon.
The price was competitive and the quality I would rate as good. Seeing the care he took in fitting I dont think he would damage the car.

£493.50 in black or 10% extra for colours. I read somewhere that hot water has the same effect as a warm day for fitting.

I'm in Scotland so unless Guy has a pattern he's a bit far....

I think one of the posts I looked at said that GW source their hoods from Don.

It looks like most people go with black but I'm really tempted to have a change!!

Alex.

I've got samples on the way from Don and Aldridge, thinking that 'Burgundy' might be a dark red sort of thing. Or dark green :?
