15" alloy tyres

Post by Geraint SabreGTCse5 » Sat Mar 02, 2019 9:11 am

I have a set of 15 wolfrace alloys to fit to GTC... when I find enthusiasm to finish polishing them  looking at the old tyres (in age not usage!) they are 205 60 15 ... and 195 65 15, the tyres on my middlebridge alloys fitted to a 5 are 195 65 15.

Any suggestions as to which would be the appropriate size to fit before I order something wrong....again?

thanks

I have 205/60R15 on 8 ball, they’ll catch on full lock even with spacers. 195/65R15 are only a few mm different in height/radius just not as wide. I think I had 195/55R15 on my GTC with middlebrighe alloys but it was also slightly lowered.

I use rain experts 195x65x15 on our MB and 195x60x15 on the MB wheels fitted to our Coupe - just depends on which are closer to your original diameter I would think.

thanks every one I don't really know what the original spec of the GTC tyre or its diameter is to be honest....every set of wheels I have here has a different size tyre on them ... the two handbooks I have quote different tyre sizes and 15" wheels wasn't an option back in the day!

The one thing you haven't mentioned, which is quite important, is how wide the wheels are. I use 205/55VRx15 (Toyo Proxes T1R) on the Yellow Peril and I like them a lot. However, that's on 7 inch wheels. Originally I had them on Middlebridge wheels, which are 6 inch width - I would suggest that on that width 195 will be a better option (as was standard on the MB anyway), you'll get better control due to the more upright sidewalls. I could feel the difference when I chaged from 6in to 7in.

It’s not a link, it sends revingtosh a notification.

If you search for members, you’ll find his profile page, where you can email or PM from.

6"? Be sure because mostly, 15 Woolfies are 7" (I think) and require 10mm spacers at front (plus a little fettling of top wishbone corners) to give clearance. Just thought I'd mention it.
