Lockheed caliper dismantling

Post by TrevorG » Mon Dec 24, 2018 8:49 pm

My discs were bad as well, but a quick skim on the lathe sorted them out including an edge lip....I guess the brakes were bad as the car sat for a year under a cover but the wheels, especially offside, caught the weather. Thanks for the offer on the calipers, sure someone else will need them

Good stainless pistons from KITEK (or is it Kitec) Should last forever. Do not forget the late Alan Dean's tip to rub the rubber seals well with a rag soaked with Molyslip...and with silicon dot 5 fluid.......many years down the line and untouched my brakes are working well.

Hi Mark, yes I took my old calipers to exchange. They prefer that nothing not even cleaning has been done to them. And yes got the gearbox mount thanks. Dave

Reconditioned calipers both on the car, old ones about to be sent back to brakes international. Incidentally, the price was exactly the same as weavers nine months ago. Nice to see they use good quality ferodo pads when you order them. I also ordered a set of spring retainers and split pins but they were also included in the ferodo box, so I've now got some spares!
