GTC Leak

Post by Rob Jones » Tue Apr 03, 2018 10:43 am

Hello All,
I have jacked up my GTC from the front - put it on ramps, and noticed, from the drivers foot well, water dripping from the small drain hole, upon further investigation, the water looks blue like coolant from the engine.
I felt the carpet in the drivers foot well which i think is damp.
Any ideas??
Rob..

If you touch your Tongue with your fingers after touching the carpet and it has a sweet taste then you have a coolant leak in the cab. Important to say that antifreeze is poison so spit it out after tasting.

Coolant in the footwells means that the heater matrix is leaking I’m afraid.

You may be lucky with some Radweld, even as a short term fix

Yep - they fitted the matrix then built the rest of the car around it

I personally wouldn’t use radweld unless it was a “get you home and then flush it through and fix it” situation.

As a temporary solution, I’d join the two heater hoses together rather than use Radweld...it’s just as likely to block the radiator rather than the heater matrix. K-seal might be a bit more forgiving?
