Rubber bumper to aluminium plates glue?

Post by cobrascim » Wed Dec 28, 2016 3:42 pm

Starting reassembly after latest respray.
When I rebuilt last time I think I used sikoflex to stick the rubber sections back to the fibreglass bumper. I don't think I actually stuck the rubber to the aluminium dress places preferring to let the rubber sit against them. Just wondered this time whether I should glue the rubber to stop any sagging.
Anyone had good results with particular sticking Materials?
John.

Yep, as Dave d=said, tigerseal is the correct product to use though I'd guess that other similar products will suffice as well, I used a black silicone on mine, still there 4 years later

Cheers gents. Tiger seal been mentioned before if i remember correctly. Will go and get some in the morning and polish up the ally and reassemble.
As you say Dave I won't stick it to the ally and do it same as I did the last time around.

Good luck 'polishing up the alloy' it's actually anodised, I had to sand that off first before I could polish then decided to powdercoat instead

Yeah Mike found that out today. Tried my best to Polish and you get a different shine front to back with a line right down the middle.
Back to it tomorrow for round 2.

For that very reason I went with powder coat. Well that and I like the look of them in black.
