Possibly the limit may be the trigger or they haven't got dowm to P & S yet
Annoying thing is they are still flogging their go add free but neglecting to say that you'll get stung for more later, highly missleading in my books

There's still a free service and ad free services with different size limits - they've just lost the ability to link except for the top size limit option.

It's fair to say I'm gutted and annoyed about this. I like the idea of having a single source of all my pics in a central location, so I can link to them from multiple sites (here and Retro Rides, for example).

That said, if the upload process is made a bit simpler here, that can only be a good thing - thanks for the efforts that's going on with that.

Interesting to note, I've received a (pretty convincing) phishing email trying to get me to upgrade my account - not that anyone's considering it, but I could see how some will get caught by it.

Cheers,

Mike.

FB has its place (particularly for advertising) but it's not a reference archive.
Great work guys thank you I know it takes a lot of time and effort to do these things. I have a question and I don't want it to sound at all ungrateful, will this work using the mobile version of scimitar web? I almost exclusively use the mobile version of the forum and have until now used the Photo bucket app to display photos. The only reason I ask is so I know if I need to find a Photo bucket replacement or will I be able to upload direct to scimitar web from my phone.

I'll try it today - I suspect the answer's yes because I uploaded photos from my phone (albeit in normal full fat mode).

I did wonder if anyone still used the mobile version - I think Phil H does too and he's been uploading pics to the test forum.

I use the mobile version (when I'm reading the forum on mobile, funnily enough). I would normally only use it for straightforward reading of threads and doing quick "text-onlly" replies, anything more complex is a job for the "full fat" version.

I've only tested it in full fat mode - haven't seen if it has the mobile version installed yet?

Well received the we've notice...3rd party etc etc email but no idea which of my photobucket accounts it relates to as my photos in last thread are still showing, email address is from info@pbdeals.com. possible phishing I wonder as no account name is given which you'd kind of expect
This pic is from that account if it shows that is

That's the same address I received an email from too Mike. Looked pretty convincing at first, but as you say they'd have used your username etc.

My posts have suffered the same fate as others re the Photobucket 3rd party debacle. I only used it as I could never seem to be able to post pictures from my own computer collection despite trying to follow the clear instructions contained in the forum guide along with others advice and help. I obviously keep doing something wrong but don't know what. Will just have to keep trying I suppose unless someone out there has a trained parrot they can lend me to sit on my shoulder and talk me thru it. Hopefully one that doesn't leave spurious deposits!

It was allowed. They changed their terms and conditions, now it's not allowed (unless you pay for the top option at £400).

Of course, makes sense, so why are they trying to commit hari kari then by peeing off so many people now, presume their ad festooned site wasn't getting enough clicks though tbh it's been terrible for quite some time in its responce time and took ages just to log in at times.
Anyone looked at Hostpics.org? wary that imugr have similar 3rd party clauses from what I've gleaned and would rather not be back in the same situation a year later.

General consensus is that if 1% of customers upgrade to the £400 pa option (because they need the links for their sites?) then it will be considered a financial success. Personally I think they've miscalculated the number of ad free subscribers (small fee) that will leave, added to the number of users that will never trust them again?

I think the only way ahead is to host them yourself or pay for it - certainly the options I'm looking at.
