Without pictures the build treads are much less interesting. All the pictures have gone from my Omega conversion thread due to PB. Very annoying. Imgur seems the best solution according to you guys. I will register for an account and restore my thread.

Hi Jim according to the notice posted on benzworld gallery, they are not hosting for forum posting .
Dropbox started restricting third party hosting last year but there are workarounds. Very klunky as I said previously.

There are fixes popping up already - this site for example will give you a prefix to paste into the PB address to make the picture view correctly. No good for huge albums and may disappear if it becomes too popular and PB get wind of it.

5 days on and retro rides have a working upload (including drag and drop) image upload function that works on mobile (apple & android) and PC using Azure.

This may incur some costs (retro rides is currently free for all) but is as future proof as you can realistically be, and seems simple to use.

It really is time we got scimitarweb back to the top of the forums league - perhaps a warm make-over with the decent image uploader?

Is it really only 5 days since April 2016, or am I missing something?

No, it's 5 days since the effect of PB changing its Ts & Cs took effect and retro rides has rewritten the complete code for their (already excellent since Apr 16 having been getting lots of negative comments) image upload function :D

Just been through and fixed a number of my more obvious posts, this is a relatively easy fix, here's hoping PB don't rumble it! :D

If I have missed any that someone wants the images back on PM me.

So by the sound of it, they haven't actually written it from a blank sheet of paper in 5 days?

Re: Photobucket

Pretty much rewritten - although the front face changes were almost invisible. Bear in mind this is an unpaid volunteer webmaster/site creator:

Friday

Wow, I've just caught up with this. Amazingly bad move. Is going to decimate lots of sites with linked images.

Not even sure if there is an easy fix. Obviously galleries etc. can be rehosted, but the old links will be broken still. :/

Saturday

...I canned a replacement for Flickr that I'd been working on as Imgur gained so much traction. I'm pretty sure we'll be fine with the way we use Imgur, but it has also moved on from its original purpose to become its own community and I fear it will one day not want hotlinked images. So I'll be spending my sunny Sunday buried in Visual Studio hopefully have something together pretty quickly that can replace the Imgur uploader, and then I can expand it to suck in Photobucket accounts, will also add in a front end for management etc. Any C# developers around these parts want to help? I'll chuck it up on GitHub and I can manage the process there. If not I'll plug away at it on my train journey too and from work for the next week or so.

Sunday

I guess I resurrect the Retro Rides image hosting solution that I was part way through. Don't do anything too drastic with your Photobucket stuff yet, I may be able to find a way to get the images into a new system and I can probably write something to fix up the image links to Photobucket to point to new system without people having to reedit their threads.

Re:imgur ... That paragraph that luckyseven posted in the ToS was why I started my own image hosting project. We use it currently as an upload tool. I suspect it is mainly a get out for if they get hammered by a very popular site using them as a CDN for their own content or a site using them for their logos. However I'd rather be in control end to end.

Will probably be Wednesday before I get this live properly .. although I'm finger nails close. So I can replace the on page uploader pretty quick.

Then I need to do the accounts bit of it, and then some management pages. It'll be basic as all hell to start, but I'll add features. I've got a planned features list as long as your arm, job one is to just get it working though :D

Monday

Okay that should be stage one done... the Add Pictures button is now using the new system.. I'll make the URL prettier.

At first I'll make it so it will only serve images to Retro Rides (whilst I work out how much it is going to cost to run the system). If it isn't too crazy I'll open up the rules to allow the images to be hosted elsewhere.

Thanks for this suggestion I has worked for me. My project is now back up and running until PB catch up with this fix!

Well done Jim

I have just read your last post. Thank you for the time and effort you are putting in to resolve this problem. It is well outside my understanding. I will follow with interest.
