I've always kept my own copies of images. I only used PhotoBucket to host copies for use in forum posts.
I've downloaded my Scimitar build images, uploaded them to OneDrive, and updated my build thread to use the Onedrive versions.
I started at the end of December, did a few pages at a time, and completed it this evening. I reckon it's taken about 12 hours to do 400 images, but at least I've ditched PhotoBucket. I'm assuming Microsoft won't get up to the same silly games.

I have my own copies on the lap-top on Google Drive AND USB sticks (in garage) but mostly mine are just of our holiday places, now that we can drag and drop car related stuff it is a massive boost, although I still try and keep file size small when adding , not sure how the server is charged for storage ? ?

I'd be inclined to hold your horses, pending confirmation from Ian of where he's got up to - as I understood it, the downloading of the photos was just a first step, to [hopefully] allow the development of a system that would allow those photos to be used as the basis for the old forum images, rather than PB. I may be wrong, but I don't remember any mention that this development had actually been completed, I thought the forum was currently still running off the PB images, via a temporary fix? (that's why you sometimes have to refresh a thread to see them)?ScimmyMike wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2018 7:55 pmIf that's the case I'm removing all my bucket photo's now, they were only copied over to it anyhowphilhoward wrote: ↑Fri Feb 02, 2018 10:03 pmI think he did download nearly every PB hosted image on the forum though...or rather he wrote some code that did
Like you, all my PB images are ultimately expendable, PB was only a "means to an end" for posting photos online, and I have all of them and the originals backed-up, but as I have posted a lot of them in many different threads, it would be a huge task to replace all the links. So the current half-way house, which does at least work, is better than nothing, but it would be great to be able to delete everything and close my PB account!

Last I heard from Ian was "don't delete your PB images just yet".
I haven't removed mine (I don't think so!) and they currently appear to work, so as I'm not paying anything and they aren't deleting them, they can bear the cost of hosting them out of spite

Guys
What's the latest on the photobucket debacle? What do I need to do to restore the photos in my threads? Sorry if it's already been answered somewhere, I did try and find the answer before posting.

Well that was much easier than I thought it would be
Many thanks to all involved in fixing the photobucket problem, I can now see the photos which mean my ramblings make a little more sense.

Personally, I think they're too late to retain customers - the pain has already been inflicted. If they'd have done that in the first place, then maybe...

What he said. If they had asked a nominal fee from the outset,I'd have paid it but not now.
