In answer to your question about "drop off the site" no, I don't. I get a timeout message as above, but that's only the page, I'm still logged-in and a simple page refresh takes me back to wherever I wanted to go - view unread, forum index, or wherever. I don't get logged-out or anything like that.

Me too - sat here discussing it with Phil and it appears that my bookmark has the 7080 in it - if you type in scimitarweb.co.uk (with or without the /sgwrs to go directly to the forum) it works fine but then any reply or redirect has this 7080 which causes it to hang?

It has got to be something that has happened / been changed recently as I only have had the problem from today.

That's what I always say when the car goes wrong! Yes, like you, it's only been a problem for me today

I am now about to spend a sunny Sunday behind my computer trying to resolve the issues.
The same root cause is showing up as a lot of different symptoms :w such as timeouts, double posting and smartfeed failure. Please try to report any current problems via this thread so I can keep track of things.

I've applied what I hope to be a fix for these problems. :?: It is deep in the server operating system so I'm being conservative with any changes that I make so as not to cause other issues.

NO url should have :7080 or :7081 in it!

Please make sure that any favourites, bookmarks, shortcuts etc that you have saved do not have these numbers included. If in doubt, start at the site homepage scimitarweb.co.uk/, click through and recreate your saved links as appropriate. Also for those using feeds, please regenerate your feed if there are problems.

Let me know if any issues persist and if new ones appear.
